An Act for appointing Commiffioners to examine, ftate and report who of the Sufferers in the Charitable Corporation are Objects of Compaffion, according to the Defcriptions therein mentioned ; and for giving Relief to fuch Sufferers ; and for enforcing the Laws made againfl foreign Lotteries; and for impowerinp the faid Commiffioners to hear and deter- mine the Claims of fuch Creditors and Proprietors of the faid Corporation, as have not . made their Claims within the Time limited by. an Act made in the laft Seffion of Parlia- ment, for taking Jlating and determining all the Claims and Demands of the Creditors of the faid '"Corporation, and of all Perfons claiming any Share or Inter eft in the Stock or Fund of the faid Corporation. c Commiffioners appointed by an Act of the laft Seffion of Parliament, for the taking, ftating and de- 1 termining the Claims and Demands of the Creditors of the faid Corporation, and all Perfons claiming 4 any Share or Intereft in the Stock of the fame, it appears, that the whole Sum for which the Corpo- ' ration was, at the Time of figning the faid Report, anfwerable to all the Perfons who had any De- '.mands upon or were any ways interefted in the faid Corporation, amounted to four hundred eighty- c (even thoufand eight hundred and ninety-five Pounds fourteen Shillings and ten Pence three Farthings :
- And whereas upon Examination into the State of the Effects of the faid Corporation, it appears, that
- to make good the faid four hundred eighty-feven thoufand eight hundred and ninety-five Pounds
' fourteen Shillings and ten Pence three Farthings, there remains in Money and Effects no more than ' thirty-four thoufand one hundred and fifty Pounds thirteen Shillings and one Penny Half-penny ; fo Eftimate of « that the Net Lofs to the faid Corporation is four hundred fifty-three thoufand feven hundred and ' * forty-five Pounds one Shilling and nine Pence Farthing, except what may be recovered from Perfons ' indebted to the faid Corporation, of which no Eftimate can yet be made : And whereas it will be a ' reafonable Act of Charity, to give fome Relief or Satisfaction to fuch of the Sufferers as fhatl appear ' upon Examination to be proper Objects of Compaffion, according to the true Intent and Meaning of '. this Act :' May it pleafe your Majefty that may be enacted, &c. " Commiffioners to give in Writing the Names and Qualifications of Perfons feeking Relief, to the Par- " liament. The Duration of the Commiffioners Power for 12 Months. 500,000/. to be raifsd by way " of Lottery at 4/. perTickct. Commiffioners to appoint the Managers of the Lottery. There fhall " be printed 125,000 Tickets, and 28,169 Tickets fhall be The Fortunate Tickets, one of 10,000/. one " of 5,000/. three of 3,000/. four of 2,000/. twenty of 1,000/. forty of 500/. two hundred of 100/. " four hundred of 50/. twelve hundred of 20/. twenty-fix thoufand three hundred of 10/. which toge- " ther. with 500/. to the firfl drawn Ticket, and 500/. to the laft drawn, will amount to 400,000/. " to be repaid, and the remaining 100,000/. is intended to be reserved for the Relief of the Sufferers. " The Refidue of the Money, after paying the Fortunate Tickets and incident Charges, to be difpofed " of to the Sufferers, by Parliament. And whereas in an Act which paffed in the ninth Year of his late Majefty's Reign, inti- " 9 ' * tuled, An AEt to continue the Duties for Encouragement of the Coinage of Monies, and for Relief of Wil- ' liam late Lord Widdrington, and to prevent foreign Lotteries being carried on in this Kingdom, and for
- afcertaining the Duty on bound Books imported, and for iffuing Certificates and Debentures for Arrears due to
' five Regiments, to be fatisfied by Annuities therein mentioned, and for difcharging the Duties of Rock Salt loft Year one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-three, Provifion is made againft felling ordifpofmg of any Tickets in any foreign Lottery, under the Penalty of forfeiting two hundred Pounds, and fuffering one Year's Imprifonment for every fuch Offence ; yet in Evalion of the faid Law, and to the great Prejudice and Damage of many of his Majefty's good Subjects, feveral evil minded Perfons have un- dertaken to keep Offices for the iffuing of Tickets or Receipts for Numbers in feveral foreign Lotte- ries, or Claffes of fuch Lotteries, or have made Duplicates of fuch Lotteries, contrary to the true In- tent and Meaning of the faid Act :' For Remedy whereof, be it further en-acted by the Authority aforefaid,
