Jevying the faid Fine or Fines fo impofed on the Goods and Chattels of every Offender, and to cau Sale to be made thereof in cafe they (ball not be redeemed in five Days, rendring to every fuch Perfc the Overplus (if any there be) upon Demand, after deducting the reafonable Charges of fuch Diftre and Sale ; which Fine or Fines, when levied or received by virtue of this Act, fhall be paid over ini the Hands of the Churchwardens or Overleers of the Poor of the Parifh wherein every fuch Offendi (hall, at the Time of fuch Offence committed, inhabit, dwell or feek a Livelihood, towards the Suj port and Maintenance of the Poor of the faid Parifh. IV. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That for the more expeditious, convenie: and beneficial Execution of the Powers vefted in the Commiffioners of the faid Court of Requefts, i regard to the Benefits accruing to the poor Suitors therein, that the Number of Bedels or Officers t attend the faid Court, and be employed in the Execution of the Orders of the faid Commiffioners, ma by the Court of Lord Mayor and Aldermen of the City of London, from time to time, be enlarged t ■two Bedels or Officers or more, not exceeding four, as the Increafe of the Bufmefs of the faid Coui of Requefts fhall render it moft convenient for the poor Suitors therein, according to the Difcretion c the faid Court of Lord Mayor and Aldermen. V. Provided always, That the faid former Act, and all Provifoes, Powers, Claufes, Matter and Things therein contained (not hereby altered or otherwife provided for) (hall continue and b ■in full Force, and extend to all and every Perfon or Perfons to whom this prefent Act doth or fha extend. VI. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Action or Suit fhall be brough or commenced againtt any Perfon or Perfons for any Matter or Thing done or to be done in purfuanc of this Act, or the faid recited Act, then, and in fuch Cafe, the Action or Suit fhall he brought c commenced within fix Months next after the Fact committed, and not afterwards, and fhall be lai .and brought in the City of London, and not elfewhere ; and the Defendant or Defendants in fuc Action or Suit to be brought fhall and may plead the General IfTue, and give this, and the faid recite Act, and the Special Matter in Evidence at any Trial to be had thereupon, and if the Plaintiff or Plain -tiffs fhall become nonfuited, or difcontinue his, her or their Action or Actions, Suit or Suits, or i upon Verdict or Demurrer Judgment (hall be given againft the Plaintiff or Plaintiffs, the Defendant o Defendants fhall and may recover double Colts, and have fuch Remedy for the fame, as any De fendant or Defendants hath or have in any other Cafes by Law. VII. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That this Act fhall be deemed, adjudge, and taken to be a pubiick Act, and be judicially taken Notice of as fuch by all Judges, Juftices ari' pther Perfons whatfoever, without fpecially pleading the fame. P R. •* * 7 H E R EAS the Inhabitants of the City of Gloucefter fuffer many Inconveniencies for want o ' W being fupplied with a fufficient Quantity of good and pure Water for their neceffary Occafions C the prefent Method of fupplying the faid City with Water having been found ineffectual : And wherea ■' good and pure Water is capable of being conveyed to the faid City, from -certain freth Springs ilTuin; •' out of or near to a Hill called Matfon's Hill, otherwife Robin Hood's Hill, in the Manor and Parifh o ' Mat/on, Part of the Eftate of John Selwyn, Efquire : And whereas the faid John Selwyn is willing am '.. confenting that fuch Water fhould be made ufe of for the Purpofe aforefaid ; and the Mayor, Alder- ■' men, and Common Council of the faid City, are defirous to contract and agree with any Perfon 01 ' Perfons willing to undertake fuch Work, with proper Reftrictions and Covenants for the due am f effectual compJeating the fame : But as fuch Undertaking cannot be carried on and compleated unlet: _ Powers neceffary for that Purpofe be given by Parliament ;' May it pleafe your molt Excellent Ma- jefty that it may be enacted, &c. The former Acts 8 Ann. enlarging the Terms and Powers granted by two Acts of Parliament, For repairing the Roddi m Seven Oaks ^Woodfgate and Tunbridge Wetts,_and from Woodfgate to Kipping's Crofs and ii Geo. i. c. 15. are further continued for 21 Years, CAP.
