An Act to indemnify Perfons who have omitted to qualify themfelves for Offices and Employ- ments within the Time limited by Law, and for allowing further Time for that Purpofe, and alfo for amending fo much of an Aft made in the twenty-fifth Year of the Reign of King Charles the Second, intituled, An Atf for preventing Dangers which may happen from Popijh Recufants, as relates to the Time for receiving the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper now limited by the faid Act. ' "llfHEREAS divers Perfons, who on Account of their Offices, Places, Employments or Profef- ' W fions, or any other Caufe or Occafion, ought to have taken and fubfcribed the Oaths or the i Geo. 1. c 13. ' Aflurance refpectively appointed to be taken by fuch Perfons in and by an Act made in the firft Year of '.the Reign of his late Majefty King George of glorious Memory, intituled, An Acl for the further ' Security of bis Majefty' s Per/in and Government, and the Succeffton of the Crown in the Heirs of the late Prin- ' cefs Sophia, being Protejlants ; and for extinguijlnng the Hopes of the pretended Prince of Wales, and his 1 3 Gar. 2. ft. 1. 1 g p en an d f ecre t Abettors ; or to have qualified themfelves according to an Act made in the thirteenth Year '" '" ' of the Reign of King Charles the Second, intituled, An AR Jor the well governing and regulating Cor- 25 Car. z. c 2. 'thirtieth Year of the Reign of the late King Charles the Second, intituled, An Ail for the more ejfec- ' tual prefcrving his Majefty s P erf on and Government, by difabling Papifts from fitting in either Houfe of Par- ' liament, have, through Ignorance of the Law, Abfence, Miitake or fome unavoidable Accident, omit- ' ted to take and fubfcribe the faid Oaths and Aflurance, or to make and fubfcribe the feveral Declara-

  • tions before mentioned, or otherwife to qualify themfelves as aforefaid, within fuch Time, and in fuch
  • Manner, as in and by the faid Acts refpectively, or by any other Act of Parliament in that Behalf

' made and provided is required, whereby they may be in Danger of incurring divers Penalties and Dif- ' abilities :' For quieting the Minds of his Majefty's Subjects, and for preventing any Inconveniencies that might otherwife happen by Means of fuch Omiffions, Be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefly, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, irl. Further Time this prefent Parliament afTembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That all and every Perfon and allowed for perfons who hath or have taken and fubfcribed, or who fnall on or before the thirty-firft Day of December taking the fe- one t houfand kven hundred and forty-three,- take and fubfcribe the Oaths and Aflurance refpectively, in fuch Cafes wherein by Law the faid Oaths or Aflurance ought to have been taken or fubfcribed, in fuch Manner and Form, and fuch Place and Places, as are appointed in and by the faid Act made in the firft Year of the Reign of his faid late Majefty King George, or by any other Act or Acts of Parliament in that Behalf made an J provided ; and alio hath or have received, or mail before the faid thirty-firft Duy of Le:ember receive ihs Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, according to the Ufage of the Church of Eng- land, and hath or have made and fubfcribed, or lhall on or before the faid thirty-firft Day of December make and fubfcribe the faid Declaration againft Tranfubftantiation, in fuch Cafes wherein the faid Sa- crament ought to have been received, and the faid Declaration ought to have been made and fubfcribed, xmd alfo hath or have made and fubfcribed, or fhall on or before the faid thirty-firft Day of December make and fubfcribe the faid Declaration in the faid Statute made in the thirtieth Year of the Reign of the faid King Charles the Second, fhall be and are hereby imdemnified, freed and difcharged of, from and againft all Penalties, Forfeitures, Incapacities and Difabilities incurred, or to be incurred, for or by reafon of any former Neglect or Omiffion of taking or fubfcribing the faid Oaths or Aflurance, or recei- ving the Sacrament, or making or fubfcribing the faid Declarations refpectively, according to the above mentioned Acts, or any of them, or any other Act or Acts concerning Perfons in Offices or Places of Truft, and' is and are, and fhall be fully and actually recapacitated and reftored to the fame State and Condition as fuch Perfon and Perfons were in before fuch Neglect or Omiffion, and fhall be deemed and adjudged to have duly qualified him, her or themfelves, according to the above mentioned Acts, and every of them ; and that all A£ts done or to be done by any fuch Perfon or Perfons, or by Authority de- rived from him or them, are and fhall be of the fame Force and Validity as the fame or any of them •would have been if fuch Perfon or Perfons had taken the faid Oaths or Aflurance, and received the Sa- crament of the Lord's Supper, and made and fubfcribed the faid Declarations refpectively, according to the Direction of the faid Aits, and every of them ; and that fuch Perfon or Perfons qualifying themfelves in Manner, and within the Time appointed by this Act, fhall be to all Intents and Purpofes as effectual, •>is if fuch Perfon or Perfons had refpectively taken the faid Oaths and Aflurance, and received the Sacra- ment, and made and fubfcribed the faid Declarations within the Time, and in the Manner appointed by the feveral Acts before mentioned. ' II. And whereas feveral Perfons who have been prefented or collated to, or put in Ecclefiaftical Be- ' nefices or Promotions, within that Part of Great Britain called England, the Dominion of Wales, and ' the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, by reafon of Sickncfs, Imprifonment, Difability of Body, or other- •* wife, could not or djd not read the Morning and Evening Prayers, according to the Book of Com- mon
