Blair, one of the Minifters of the Cannongate; Doclor William Wijhart, Principal of the Univerfity of Edinburgh ; Matter John Mathiefon, Matter William Gujlart, Matter William Robert/on, Matter John Hep- burn, Matter Rolert Wallace, Matter George Wijhart, Matter Alexander Webjler, Minifters of Edingburgh, being all Members of the Presbytery of Edinburg h, (hall be, and they are hereby nominated and appointed Truttees for levying and receiving the refpeevtive annual Rates, and other Sums, payable by virtue of this Aft, and for iftuing the fame for the Purpofes herein before expreffed, and for lending out the Surplufles to the Minifters of the Church of Scotland, and to the Members of the aforefaid Univerfities, in the Man- ner herein before directed, and for raifing the aforefaid Capital of thirty-five thoufand Pounds by Loans, to be made at an Intereft not lefs than four Pounds per Centum per Annum, to any" Perfon or Perfons, Bo- dies Politick or Corporate, and for uplifting the aforefaid Capital, in Whole or in Part, and re-employing the fame from time to time, and for putting in Execution all other the Powers in and by this Act given during their continuing in their faid Benefices and Offices. Who may be XXXIX. And be it further enaiSted by the Authority aforefaid, That every other Minifter of th: elefled Truftees. p re fbytery of Edinburgh, and every Mafter in the Univerfity of Edinburgh, that now is, or fhall hereafter be admitted into any of the faid Benefices or Offices, on or before the faid twenty-fifth Day of March one thoufand feven hunched and forty-four, and who fhall be fubje£t to one or other of the aforefaid annual Rates, fhall be, and are hereby appointed Truttees for the Execution of this A£t, during their continuing in their refpedtive Benefices and Offices, unlefs fuch Minifter in the faid Prefbytery, or Mafter in the faid Univerfity, fhall, within fix Calendar Months from and after the faid twenty-fifth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and forty-four, give Notice by a Writing figned by him, addreffed to the laid Truttees, and which he fhall deliver, or caufe to be delivered, at the General Collector or Receiver's Office in Edinburgh, declaring that he declines to accept of the faid Truft. Provided always, and he it hereby enacted, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for the haveLibertv'of arore f a 'd Minifters poffeffed of Offices in the faid Univerfities of Saint Andrew's and Glafgow, and to tefufing. the faid Minifters in the Presbytery Seats, to refufe and decline to accept of the faid Truft, fo as fuch Refufal be notified by a Deed in Writing, figned by the faid Minifters refpedtively, and given in to the faid Truttees, or to their Clerk, to be appointed in Manner herein after diredted, within fix Calendar Months after they have refpedtively become liable to one or other of the Annual Rates before mentioned, and their Admiffion to an Office in any of the faid Univerfities, or becoming Minifters in Presbytery Seats, particular Tra- XLIII. And be it further enadted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid twenty- Pees to be elefled fifth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and forty-four, it fhall and may be lawful for every lur one Year. Presbytery in Scotland (the Presbytery of Edinburgh excepted) annually to eledt one of their Number, who is fubjedt to one or other of the annual Rates before-mentioned, to be a Truftee for one Year, com- mencing from the firft Day of May yearly : And that it fhall and may be lawful to each of the faid Univerfities of Saint Andrew's and Glafgow, annually to eledt two of their Number, not being Minifters, who are or fhall be fubjedt to one or other of the aforefaid annual Rates, to be Truftees for one Year, commencing from the faid firft Day of May yearly ; and ending upon the firft Day of May the Year following. Refufalto be no- XLIV. Provided always, That it fhall be in the Power of the faid Annual Truftees, to be eledted by tify'd to the the Presbyteries and Univerfities refpedtively, to refufe to accept or aft in the faid Offices, fo as fuch Re- Prclbytery or fnfal be notified to the refpedtive Presbyteries or Univerfities at the Time of Election, if the Truftee eledt Univerfity. i. e p re f ent . or e ]f e at the next Meeting of the Presbytery or Univerfity refpedtively, after the Election fhall come to his or their Knowledge. Power of Tm- XLV. And be it further enadted by the Authority aforefaid, That the faid Truftees, or any nine of /tees. them, whereof fix to be Minifters of the Church of Scotland, fhall and may execute all the Powers com- mitted to them by this Adt ; and that, for this End, their firft Meeting fhall be on the fecond Tuefday in April one thoufand feven hundred and forty-four, between the Hours often and twelve in the Forenoon, in the old Church Ifle of Edinburgh, with Power to the faid Truftees, or any nine of them as aforefaid, to choofe one of their Number to be Prefes, and with Power to adjourn themfelves from time to time,to fuch Times and Places as they fhall fee Caufe ; and that they fhall thereafter have four ftated regular Meetings yearly, upon the fecond Tuefday in the Month of May ; the fecond Tuefday in the Month of November ; the fecond Tucflay in the Month of February ; and the fecond Tuefday in the Month of March, in the faid old Church Ifie, between the Hours often and twelve in the Forenoon, with Power to choofe a Prefes, and: to adjourn themfelves as aforefaid : And that' it fhall and may be lawful to and for the Prefes of the laft Meeting of the faid Truftees, or in his Abfcnce, the Moderator of the Presbytery of Edinburgh for the fclnie being (fuch Moderator being a Truftee) or in his Abfence the eldeft Minifter of the City of Edin- ■ ■ burgh^
