XXXVIII. And be it further enacled by the Authority aforcfaid, That for or towards raifing the faid Sum of five hundred thoufand Pounds, it fhall and may be lawful for any Pcrfon or Perfons, Natives or Foreigners, Bodies Politick or Corporate, to contribute by paying at or before the refpeciive Times by this Act limited in that Behalf, to any Receiver or Receivers to be appointed for that Purpofe, as is herein after mentioned, the Sum of ten Pounds, or divers entire Sums of ten Pounds upon this Acl ; and that The Price of a every fuch Contributor or Adventurer for every fuch Sum of ten Pounds, which he, (Tie or they fhall fo Ticket 10I. advance, {hall be interefted in fuch Lot or Share of and in the Joint Stock of Annuities, eftablifbed by this Aft, as is herein after mentioned and appointed in that Behalf; and the fame entire Sums of ten Pounds each, are hereby appointed to be paid unto fuch Receiver or Receivers, at fuch Time or Times, and in fuch Proportions at a Time, as are hereinafter mentioned in that Behalf; that is to fay, One furcrufe Money fourth Part thereof on or before the twentieth Day of May one thoufand feven hundred and forty-fix ; ^"payable, one other fourth Part thereof on or before the twenty-firft Day of July then next enfuing; one other fourth Part thereof on or before the twenty-fecond Day of Septe?nber then next enfuing; and the re- maining fourth Part thereof on or before the twenty-firft Day of Oflober then next following. " Treafury to appoint Managers of the Lottery. Books to be prepared by the Managers, containing the " Numbers of the Tickets. Treafury to appoint Receivers, who fhall give Security. Receivers to iMu2 " Tickets at 10/. each. Tickets undifpofed of to be returned into the Exchequer. There {hall beprinted " 50,000 Tickets ; 7150 fhall be fortunate; two to, 000/. three 5000/. five 2000/. fifteen 1000/. thirty- " one 500/. one hundred and fifty-one 100/. three hundred and ninety-eight 50/. fix thoufand five hun- " dred and forty-five 20/. which Sums, together with 500/. to the firll: drawn Ticket, and 1000/. to the laft drawn, will amount to 242,900/. which being added 10257,100/. the Principal payable to the remaining 42,850 Blank Tickets, at 6/. each, amount to 500,000/. the Sum total to be converted into Annuities in refpect of the Lottery Tickets. Lottery to begin drawing 24 Nov. 1746. The Prizes to " be entered. The Prize Tickets to be filed. Managers to determine Difputes of Property. Felony to " forge or alter the Number of a Ticket. Guardians may adventure Infants Money in the Lottery ; fo " as fuch Infants Names be in the Receipts and Tickets. Tickets to be exchanged for Certificates " after the Lottery is drawn. Names of Perfons exchanging Tickets, to be entered in a Book. EXP. LIV. And be it further ena&ed by the Authority aforefaid, That the faid Accomptant General of the Accomptant Ce- Bank of England for the Time being, to whom the faid Certificates are to be direded as aforefaid, fhall, " e "|° e £^"0 upon receiving and taking in the faid Certificates, or any of them, give Credit to the Perfons named the P :rfons therein, in the fame Book or Books with the Contributors for the Purchafe of the Annuities, not exceed- named in the ing two millions five hundred thoufand Pounds, herein before directed to be inferted in a Book or Books, Certificates j or in any other Book or Books, to be by him provided and kept for that Purpofe, for the principal Sums Contained in every fuch Certificate; and the Perfons to whofe Credit fuch Principal Sums fhall be entered . in the faid Book or Books, his, her or their Executors and Adminiftrators fhall and may have Power to affign and transfer the fame, or any Part, Share, or Proportion thereof, to any other Perfon or Perfons, A " n n s u f ^" b ^ de Bodies Politick or Corporate whatfoever, in other Books, to be prepared and kept by the faid Accomp- transerra e > tant General for that Purpofe ; and the Principal Sums fo affigned or transferred, fhall carry the faid An- nuity of four Pounds per Centum per Annum, and fhall be taken and deemed to be Stock transferable by this Acl, according to the Powers aijd Authority herein after mentioned, until the Redemption thereof as aforefaid ; and the faid Accomptant General of the Bank of England for the Time being, is hereby f^lduTlni authorized and direfted to cancel and file the Certificates, as they fhall from time to time be received fi)eJ an j Notes and taken in by him, and to give the Perfons bringing in the fame a Note under his Hand, tefti- give n in their fying the principal Money for xvhich they fhall have Credit in the faid Book or Books, by Reafon orftead. Means of the Certificates fo received, taken in, and cancelled as aforefaid, and of the Annuities attending the fame. LV. And for the more eafy and fure Payment of the feveral and refpeciive Annuities, amounting in the whole to three millions, by this Act authorized to be purchafed as aforefaid; It is hereby further Bank of England enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the faid Governor and Company of the Bank of England, ^f^! e n * and their Succeflbrs, fhall from time to time, until the faid feveral and refpeciive Annuities, after the Rate of four Pounds per Centum per Annum, fhall be redeemed according to this Acl, appoint and employ one fufficient Perfon, within their Office in the City of London, to be their chief or firft Cafhier orCafhiers, and one other fufficient Perfon, within the fame Office, to be their Accomptant General ; and that fo much of the Monies, from time to time arifing into the Receipt of the Exchequer, for the faid fe- Money to be veral Rates and Duties by this Aft appropriated for this Purpofe (after fatisfying or referving Money fuf- f^"""/,^,, ficient to fatisfy the feveral Annuities herein after charged upon the faid feveral Rates and Duties, and B^tfor that made payable at the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, for and during the Life or Lives of the feveral p urpo f e( Contributors to the Lottery aforefaid, or the Life or Lives of the refpe£tive Nominees, in Manner herein after mentioned) as fhall be fufficient from time to time to anfwer the faid feveral and refpeciive Annui- ties, and other Payments directed to be paid or difcharged out of the fame, fhall by Order of the Com- miffioners of his Majefty's Treafury, or any three or more of them now being, or the High Treafurer, or Vol. VI. 4 P tte
