D. 1750. navigated as by the Law now in Force is dire£led : And before fuch Eiifs or Vcffel proceed on fuch Vovage, or be intitled to the Benefit of this A61, fhe fhall be vifited by fuch Officer or Officers of the Cui*oms be- longing to fuch Fort, who (hall be appointed by the Commiffioners of the Culloms to examine into fuch Buis or Veffel j and who fliall take an Account of the Tonnage thereof by Admeafurement, and {hall cer- tify fuch his or their Vifitation, Examination and Admeafurement, to the Commiffioners of his Majefty's Culloms, and that {he hath on Board fuch a Qiiantity of Fifhing Nets and other Stores to be ufed in the I'aid Filhery, as herein afier are mentioned, and otherwife is a proper Veffel to be employed in the faid Fifliery : And, upon its further appearing by the Oath of one or more Owner or Owners, or Agent ap- pointed by them, or of a proper Ofiicer or Agent of the faid Society (who fhall be appointed for that Pur- pofe) and of the Mafter Or Chief Officer of fuch VelVel, written at the Foot of the faid Certificate, and made before the Colleftor and Comptroller of fuch Port, who are hereby impowered and required to ad- minifcer the fame, That it is really and truly their firm Purpofe and determined Refolution, that fuch Bufs or Veflel fhall proceed refpeftively, fo manned, furnifhed and accoutred, either to Brajfey's Sound in Sbetland^ and be at the Rendezvous of the laid Fifhery there, on or before the eleventh Day of June, and {hall not - fhoot or wet their Net before the thirteenth Day of the faid Month of June, and fhall continue following ■ and filning amongfl: the Shoals of Herring, as they move Southward, to the firft Day of OSioher, or {hall pro- ceed to Campbell Toxvn in Argyll/litre, and be at the Rendezvous of the faid Fifheries, on or before the firil Day of September, and fhall continue fifhing among the Shoals of Herring, as they move, to the thirty-fiifl Day of December, unlefs they fliall have fooner compleated their Loading of Fifh ; and fhall fifh in an or- derly and regular Manner, without impeding or ob{l:ru(Sing other Ve{rels which fhall be employed in the faid Fifhery ; and fliall keep a Journal of their Proceedings, and an Account of what Quantities of Fifh they fliall difpatch away to Foreign Markets in their Jaggers or Tenders, before they come into Port, be- fldes the particular Quantity they fhall bring into Port with them : And if, after fuch Certificate had, and Oath made, fuch Owner or Owners, or Officer or Agent of the faid Society, and Mafirer or Chief Officer of fuch Veflel, as aforefaid, do alfo become bound, with two fufficient Sureties, unto hisR4aje{ly, his Heirs and SuccelFcrs, in the Penalty of fuch Sum as fliall be equal to treble the Bounty on the Tonnage of his ' Vefiel, intended by this A£t (which Bond the Colleilor, with the Approbation of the Comptroller, is here- by required to take, and is to be in Force for the Space of three Years, againft the Mafirer and his Sureties) for the faithful Dealing of his faid Maftcr and Ship's Company, in regard to the faid VelTel and Voyage j then and in fuch Cafe, it fhall at)d may be lawful for the Colleftor and Comptroller of fuch Port to giie and grant, and they are hereby required to give and grant to the Mafler and Owners of fuch Bufs or VelFel, full Licence and Authority to proceed on fuch Voyage as aforefaid. -Kow tvtiry Vef- XlIL And fo prevent any Difputes which may arife, whether a Veflel be properly qualified and duly fitted fti ..-miiloyed in out for the Herring Fifliery, according to the true Intent and Meaning of this Adf, and intitled to a Cer- be valS 1-c '^'ficate from the Cuftom-houfe Officers ; it is hereby enafted. That every fuch Vefl^el fhall be a decked Vef- ' ' ' lei, built in Great Brita'm, after the Commencement of this Aft, and fhall have on Board twelve JFinchejhr Bufhels of Salt for every Laft of Fifli, which fuch Veflel is capable of holding, which Salt (hall be barrelled up in new Barrels, and as many more new Barrels as fuch Bufs or VefTel is capable of carrying, and fhall have two Fleets of Tanned Nets, proper for the Herring Fifhery; that is to fa^'. That every fuch Bufs or VefTel of the Burthen of leventy Tons, and defigned for this Fifhery, fhall on her proceeding to Sea, have on Board one Fleet of fifty Nets, each Net to be thirty Yards full upon the Rope, and feven Fathoms deep, and fo in Proportion for any Veffels of a greater or leflTer Tonnage, and be provided with one other Fleet of fifty like Nets, on Board a Jagger or Tender, which is to attend the faid Fifliery, or left on Shore in a proper Place, for the Ufe of the faid Bufs or VefTel. And be it further enafted, That every fuch VefTel of twenty Tons, which fliall be employed in Tons to have cri the faid Fifhery, fhall have on Board at fuch of the Places aforementioned, as fhall be appointed for their Board Men, Rendezvous, not lefs than fix Men, and every VefTel of greater Burthen, fhall, over and above the fix Men aforefaid, have one for every five Tons which flie fliall exceed tv/enty Tons.
