An Acl to obviate Doubts that have arifen with regard to the Admiffion of the VafTals of the Principality of Scotland, and Payment of their Rents and Duties, lent Majefty ; whereby it is rendered uncercain in what manner the Vaflals of the faid Princip.Ji y ought - to be entered, and to whom the Rents, IlTues and Profits of the Principality ought to be paid, and by ' whom the Vaflals fhould be thereof acquitted : And whereas by reafon, efijecially of the Lofs of great ' Part of the ancient Records of Scotland, the removing of that Doubt may be attended with confiderable ' Delay and Difficulty ; and although the Rents, Iflues and Profits of the Principality itfelf are of very ' inconfiderable Value, and have proved hardly fatficient to defray the Expence of iheOfF.cers necefiary for ' collefting or adminiftring the fame ; yet in the mean time it will be highly prejudicial to the Vaflals of the ' faid Principality, and to their Heirs, or Angular SucceflTors, or Purchafers from them, if no certain Method ' {hall be fettled, whereby their Title to Lands, or other Heretages holding of the faid Principality, may ' be efteftually made up and compleated ;' For the Relief therefore of the Vaflals, and all other Pcrfons, who may be interefted in Lands and Heretages, holding of the faid Principality ; Be it enaded by the King's mofl: Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice ^nd Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Tem- poral, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament, and by the Authority of the fame, That it fhall and His Majefty to may be lawful for his Majefty, until his Royal Highnefs George William Frederick Prince of IFnles ftiall ^Il'i't 'of Smn'" ^^^^'" ^^f f^^ll Age of twenty-one Years, to hold and pofl'efs the iaid Principality and Stev/artry of Scotland, bndj t°o g"nt ^"'^ ^° g'^^ Entries, Charters, or Infeftments, to the VaflTals thereof, containing Claufes of Novo damns, Entr'ieE, &c. to and Other Claufes ufual, and to do every other A£l concerning the faid Principality and Stewartry of Scot- the Vaffals there- /(7«(5?, in the fame Manner that hath been formerly praftifed and accuftomed by his Royal Predeceflbrs the °f w'lc'^ fifuT^'^S* or Queens of Scotland, or of Great Britain, when there was no Prince in Being ; and all fuch Entries, of theA-eof 21^^^"^^' Infeftments or other Afts and Deeds, concerning the faid Principality, or" any Part thereof, fhall Years.
