And whereas by occafton of the Death of Perfons chofen to be Colleftors of the Cefs or Land- ' Tax in the feveral Shires or Boroughs in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland, or by other Acci- ' dents, it may happen that there fliall be a Vacancy of that Oifice, and by confequence no Colleftor of Vacancy of Col- ' the faid Duty on Windows or Lights;' Be it therefore enafted by the Authority aforel'aid. That as often ledbor tobcfillcdas it fliall happen that there is a Vacancy in the Office of Colleftor of the Cefs or Land-Tax in any up by thcBaronsgi^irg q^ Borough in Scotland, it fhall and may be lawful for the Barons of the Court of Exchequer in "^'^"' Scotland, or any two or more of them, upon the Application of the Receiver General or Surveyor General of the Duties on Windov/s or Lights, or either of them, to nominate and appoint a Perfon to o(Hci.-ite as Colleftor of the Duty on Windows or Lights within fuch County or Borough, during the Vacancy of the Office of Colleftor of the Cefs or Land-Tax within fuch County or Borough ; and the Perfon or Perfons fo to be appointed by the faid Barons {hall have all and every the Powers and Duties concerning the raifing, collefting and paying over the faid Duty on Windows or Lights, that the Colleftor of the Cefs or Land-Tax, and of the faid Duty, would have had by virtue of this Aft; and fliall alfo he intitled to receive from fuch Shire or Borough, for and during the Time of his Service, the like Salary or Allowance as was given to the lafl Colleftor of the Land-Tax for fuch Shire or Borough ; and that over and above the Allowance of three Pence in the Pound of the Duties on Windows or Lights that fliall be colleftcd by him during the Time of his afting in fuch Office.
