And whereas by one Act of Parliament made in the Nine and twentieth year of the Reiga ' of King Charles the Second, Entituled, An Ail for the better Obfervation of the Lords Day, commonly ' called Sunday, The (landing to Hire and Driving of Hackney-Coaches on the? Lords Day are restrained ; ' And whereas the faid reftraint is many times found to be Inconvenient, as well in order to the Obferva- ' tion of the Day, as otherwise,' Be it therefore enacted by the authority aforefaid, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for the faid Commiffioners to appoint (without any Fee or Reward for the fame) One hundred feventy five and no more of the faid Hackney- Coaches to Ply, Stand and Drive on the Lords Day within the weekly Bills of Mortality only, fo as the whole number of (even hundred may be imployed fucceflively. XIX. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That if at any time after the faid Four and twentieth Day pf June, any Hackney-Coach fhall Ply, Stand or Drive upon the Lords Day, other than fuch as (ball be appointed, as aforefaid, and for the Days only for which they (hall be refpectively appointed, as aforefaid, or any where elfe within the Weekly Bills of Mortality, the Owner of fuch Coach (hall forfeit the fum of Five Pounds, to be recovered by fuch perfon as fhall fue for the fame by Action of Debt, Bill, Plaint or Information, wherein no Protection, Priviledge or Wager of Law, or more than one Imparlance (hall be allowed. ' And for the more effectual difcovery of fuch Coaches ' as (hall offend herein,' Be it enacted by the authority aforefaid, That the faid Commiffioners (hall direct to be printed and made publick, one Lift or Account of all the particular Numbers of fuch Hack- ney- Coaches as (hall be appointed for every Lords Day fucceflively throughout the year. XX. And it is hereby further enacted, That an Account ,of the profits and duties-ariflng by virtue of this Act, (hall every year, during the continuance thereof, be made up before the Auditors of the Impreft ; And if any perfon or perfons, Bodies Politick or Corporate, (ha]l at any time hereafter procure or accept from their Majeures, their Heirs or Succeffors, any Penfion, Gift or Grant for Years or Life, or any other Eftate, or any Sum or Sums of Money out of the Revenue arifing by virtue of this Act, That then every fuch Grant (hall be void, and the perfon or perfons procuring or accepting the fame, ihall forfeit the fum of Five hundred pounds, the one Moiety of which forfeiture (hall be to the ufe of the Poor of the Parifh where the faid Offender (hall inhabit, and the other Moiety to him that (hall fue for the fame, by Action of Debt, Bill, Plaint or Information, in any of their Majefties Courts .of Record. E your Majefties moft Dutiful and Loyal Subjects the Commons in Parliament Affembled, from a deep fenfe of the many great occafions, which engage your Majefty in many extraor- dinary Expences for the neceflary Defence of your Realms, and the Profecution of a War ' againft France with Vigour, have cheerfully and unarumoufly given and granted unto your Majefty, as ' an Additional Supply and Aid, the Rates, Duties, Impofitions and fums of Money herein after ' mentioned ; and we moft humbly befeech your Majefty that it may be enacted,' II.
