to break open Doors and Locks where they are ſuſpected to be concealed.

Fees to be paid by the Clerk. III. AND be it further Enacted, by the Authority aforeſaid, That all Fees and Sums of Money which may hereafter be paid into the Court of Bladen County, upon any Suit depending, or Judgment not ſatisfied, on the Dockets detained by the ſaid Maturin Colville, as well ſuch Fees and Monies which are due to him the ſaid Maturin Colville as to others, ſhall be paid by the Clerk of the Court for the Time being to the Perſon or Perſons to whom the ſame ſhall appear to be due.


CHAP. X.

An Act for the Relief of ſuch Perſons who have or may ſuffer by their Deeds and meſne Conveyances not being proved and regiſtered within the Time heretofore appointed by Law.

Preamble.I.WHEREAS many Perſons, through Ignorance of the Law, have neglected to have their Deeds and meſne Conveyances proved and regiſtered according to the Directions of the ſeveral Acts of Aſſembly in ſuch Caſe made and provided: For Remedy whereof,

Further Time allowed for proving Deeds II. BE it Enacted, by the General Aſſembly of the State of North-Carolina, and by the Authority of the ſame, That all Deeds and meſne Conveyances of Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, not already regiſtered, acknowledged, or proved, ſhall and may, within two Years after the paſſing of this Act, be acknowledged by the Grantor or Grantors, his or their Agents or Attorney, or proved by one or more of the ſubſcribing Witneſſes of the ſame, and tendered or delivered to the Regiſters of the Counties where ſuch Lands, Tenements, or Hereditaments, are reſpectively ſituated; and all Deeds and meſne Conveyences whatſoever, which ſhall be acknowledged or proved according to the Directions of this Act, though not within two Years after the Date of the reſpective Conveyances, ſhall be good and valid in Law, and ſhall enure and take Effect as fully and effectually, to the Uſe and Behoof of the Grantees, their Heirs and Aſſigns, and thoſe claiming under them, as if ſuch Deeds and Conveyances were acknowledged or proved, and regiſtered, agreeable to the Directions of any Act of Aſſembly heretofore made.


CHAP. XI.

An Act for eſtabliſhing Fairs in the Town of Halifax, in Halifax County.

Fairs when held.I.BE it Enacted, by the General Aſſembly of the State of North-Carolina, That a Fair ſhall and may be held in the Town of Halifax, in the County aforeſaid, on the Firſt Thurſday in November next, and that after the preſent Year two Fairs ſhall and may be annually held in the ſaid Town, on the Firſt Thurſday in May and the Firſt Thurſday in November in every Year, each Fair to continue for three Days, for the Sale of every Kind of Horſes and black Cattle, Sheep and Hogs, Pork and all Kinds of Proviſion, Tobacco, and every other natural Production of the
