4. Windows which open to an area facing the street. All windows have spring blinds which can be drawn quickly. On opening of Act they are drawn. Pair of heavy curtains over all on curtain pole.

5. A large flat-top desk. On it: Several bottles, pamphlets, books, various instruments, and other things which would litter a doctor's table, time tables, throat mirror, tap bell, emergency bag, two medicine bottles sealed in paper, bill files, letters, telegrams, writing materials, Turkish cigarettes, matches, pencil and writing-pad, electric lamp. Under desk waste-paper basket.

6. Doctor's cabinet with drawers and shelves. On it: Medicine books, tumbler of water, finger napkin, tongue holder, match stand with matches, doctor's head reflector.

9. Bookcases. Medical books predominating.

10. Small leather chair used by the Count.

11. Large leather arm-chair.

12. Chairs upholstered in leather.

13. Large operating chair—high back, cushions, etc.

14. Stool. On it: Nickel silver atomizor with tubes, etc.

15. Pivot arm-chair.

16. Small table. On it: Battery with wires, sponges, etc.

17. Rugs.

HAND PROPS.

Handcuff with chain attached for Forman. Package for Alice. Order of Legion of Honour for Count von Stalburg (gold crown with blue silk cord attached). Handcuffs for Holmes.

OFF STAGE.

Medicine bottle (filled) for Watson. Valise off R. for Parsons. Bundle of newspapers for Billy. Package for Holmes off C. Piano up C. Wood and glass crash, at back up C. in distance for cab crash effects. Door slam off R.


LIGHT PLOT.

Electric student's lamp on desk L.C. On walls L.R. and C. electric two-armed brackets, with eight-candle power electric lamps behind linen shades. At door up C. red strip light. On wall R. of cabinet, gas bracket with condenser attached (to light). Spot light L.

Note.—For rice of curtain darkness as in other Acts. As curtain is up, brackets, student's lamp, etc., come on slowly, then follow up with red and white foots and borders till full up. When full up, switch on red strip light, and have gas turned on ready for bracket.

On cue to end Act, all lights on stage slowly down, except spot light in L.R., which remains full on till other lights are switched off.
