C H A P. IV.

Simon lofes a Sack of Corn that he was car-
rying to the Mill to be Ground.


NOT long after fhe fent him to the mill
with a fack of corn and bid him re-
member what fhe faid to him for he fhould
not go unpunifhed. Well, faid Simon, I
hope I fhall never offend thee more. For
this promife fhe gave him a mefs of milk,
and when he had eated all up. he took his
fack of corn upon his back and went to-
wards the mill, which ftood about two miles
rom the houfe.
When Simon got about half-way, he be-
gan to be weary, which was the forerunner
of a greater misfortune : for a man riding
by, leading an empty horf. towards the mill
perceiving Simon weary of his load told him
he might lay it upon his fpare horfe ; to
which Simon willingly confented. The
man riding on. Simon could not keep pace
with him, fo defired him to leave it for
him at the mill , he promifed he would, but
