Southern Historical Society Papers.

A negro whose heart-strings vibrated to the music of duty and devotion.

A tear and a tribute to his memory, for he is lost to us; only out of the shadows comes the old refrain:

"Old missus, she feel mighty sad,
And de tears run down like de rain,
And old massa he feel very bad,
Case he never see old Ned again."
