25. Fenian raid into Canada, repulsed without loss by volunteer troops.

Closing of the North German Parliament by the King of Prussia, who declares that 'the North German Confederation, in developing its internal institutions and its national treaty alliances with South Germany, is perfecting the strength of the German people, not to the greater danger, but to the more powerful support of universal peace.'
