The following list of words, besides being a pleasant exercise, affords an ocular evidence of the brevity of Stenotype. No system of shorthand is capable of such contractions. It will be seen that besides prefixes and affixes, contractions are used in the middle of words. Although the same word-signs (such as T for "that," it " and "out") are used, still there will be no doubt about which word is meant in the sentence, as the context will always indicate the proper word.
