Yoshi-oki's, named Shinozuka Hachirō, who had failed to arrive at the hour appointed for the march, happened to make his appearance. He rushed to Yoshiminé's rescue, and attacked the soldiers fiercely. After fighting for a little while, he killed the buffoons and some of the soldiers, and put the rest to flight. He then urged Yoshiminé and his sweetheart to escape, and when they were well out of the way, the hero ran to overtake the marching army.
