She was carried off by Paris as Venus' reward to him for his decision in her favor in the question of the Golden Apple. This breach of hospitality by Paris was the cause of the Trojan war. 22:1. Cupid. Son of Venus; god of love. 22:10. Typhœan. Thunderbolts of Jove, called Typhœan because they slew the giant Typhœus at the time of the great fight for the throne of heaven between Jupiter and the Olympian gods and "the earth-born Titan brood."
