Moreover it was written in the letters^ That if within three fcore days, any of the people prefented their.felves before the chief captain of the hoil, or the king's governors, and figned a certain writhig, then they would do well, and (hould partake of the king's mercy, and their offences fhculd be remem- bered to them no more.

6. And the great Sanhedrim were com- manded to alTemtle no more together; but to return and make then* peace w^hile the door of mercy was yet open.
