23. And the petition was given to Benjamin[1] to give to the king : now this Benjamin was a wise man, and his name was much set by amongst the people; he exceeded ail the ancients in wisdom and knowledge.

24. He taught the people the hidden mys- teries of nature, which had lain hid from the foundation of the world, and which our fathers knew not!
