EVENING WORSHIP

13 Now the Day Is Over
(MERRIAL. 6,5,6,5)
Sabine Baring-Gould, 1865 Joseph Barnby, 1868

1.

Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh;
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky.

2.

Jesus, give the weary
Calm and sweet repose;
With thy tend'rest blessing
May our eyelids close.

3.

Grant to little children
Visions bright of thee;
Guard the sailors tossing
On the deep blue sea.

4.

Comfort every suff'rer
Watching late in pain;
Those who plan some evil
From their sins restrain.

5.

When the morning wakens
Then may I arise
Pure, and fresh, and sinless
In thy holy eyes.
A-MEN.

4 Lord, Dismiss Us with Thy Blessing
(SICILIAN MARINER'S HYMN. 8,7,8,7,4,7)
John Fawcett, 1773 Sicilian Melody

1.

Lord, dismiss us with thy blessing,
Fill our hearts with joy and peace;
Let us each thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace;
O refresh us, O refresh us,
Trav'ling thro' this wilderness.
Ever faithful, Ever faithful
To the truth may we be found.

2.

Thanks we give and adoration
For thy Gospel's joyful sound;
May the fruits of thy salvation
In out hearts and lives abound;
O refresh us, &c.
A-men
