112. FIFTEENTH WEEK.

While we adore "Thee and offer our united thanksgivings for the blessings of this day; we would be deeply abased in Thy presence for our numerous transgressions. Thy Word has disclosed unto us how great our responsibility is toward Thee; and yet, with this knowledge, how inconsistently have we frequently acted! With the precept engraven on our memories, '* Thou God seest us,'"' we have acted as though Thou wert not omniscient. O Lord, pardon our ingratitude: chase away the spirit of our worldly-mindedness. 'Create within us a clean heart. O God; renew a right spirit within us, and lead us in the way everlasting."

May true religion increase and bind together the members of this family, and may brotherly love continue. Lord watch over us this night, for good, for Thy name and mercy sake. Amen.

THURSDAY MORNING.

O LORD, we desire to praise Thee for all Thy goodness and lovingkindness to us and to all men.

How precious are Thy thoughts unto us, O God; how great is the sum of them! How sweet are Thy words unto our taste; yea, sweeter than honey to our mouths. How reviving are the truths of the everlasting Gospel. How great has been Thy loving-kindness in unfolding the spirit and the life of Thy Word. How have we been privileged to see what many prophets and righteous men desired to see, but saw not. How great are the treasures of Thy grace; how marvellous the interpositions of Thy Providence; how signal has been our deliverance from death and hell! But, Lord, who can enumerate Thy marvellous loving-kindness! O may Thy sacred name be hallowed on earth as it is in heaven!

Lord, Thou knowest what is best for us all the days of our lives, which we spend as a shadow; and as children look to their parents for guidance and protection, neither questioning their prudence, nor disputing their authority, so would our souls look unto Thee. Avert all evil wishes, we beseech Thee, and suffer not a restless or repining spirit to possess us. As we often pray for things that would, if granted, be pernicious unto us. O let Thy mercy withhold from us our requests. Give us neither poverty nor riches; feed us with food convenient for us. If we were without affliction we might be tempted to forget Thee; we might never seek Thee unless Thy hand by its providential dispensations sought us out. Therefore, O Lord, deal with us as Thine own wisdom shall see fit, and aid us to say continually, "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want; He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. Amen.

THURSDAY EVENING, 0 LORD Almighty! For jn this mountain shall the hand of the Lord rest, and Moab shall be
