PRAYERS.

FIRST WEEK.—SABBATH MORNING.

MOST merciful Lord God our Saviour, as Thou hast graciously brought us to behold the light of this Sabbath, deign to look upon us from Thy high and holy place, and assist us to enter upon the duties of this day with reverence and humility. Thou hast designed us to find our happiness in loving Thee, and in showing our love to Thee, by loving our neighbour as ourself. By this are we known to be Thy disciples as we have love one to another.

Lord, we beseech Thee pour forth the influences of Thy Spirit upon us, that a devout obedience may be enkindied within us to Thy divine injunctions.

We confess that the love of self and the love of the world have long held dominion over us. We have frequently contended who among us should be greatest: and even when we have attempted to do good, there has frequently arisen within us a jealousy lest the good we have intended should be anticipated by others. O Lord, help us to keep in remembrance that ali good of right belongs to Thee; and in our efforts to perform the uses of charity, may we keep Thee ever before us, and labour to promote the good of our brethren with singleness of eye and purity of heart, ascribing unto Thee all the honour and all the praise for ever and ever. Amen.

Our Father, etc.

Note.—The person who conducts the worship should always read a portion of the Holy Word before the Prayer.
