malignant spirits, satans, or even devils; and yet "we have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear."

O Lord, we are deeply sensible of our evils; we feel more and more the truth of Thy words, "men ought always to pray." We ought always to have our conversation with Thee: always to set Thee Before us, always invoke Thine aid against the infestations of evil, always resist the temptations to sin; and when the evils within would tempt us to withdraw our allegiance from Thee, always should we be ready to repel them with Thine own divine words, "Get thee hence. Satan."

O help us, heavenly Father, not only to hear Thee, but to do as Thou hast commanded us. May Thy purity be our model of imitation. May we strive to become holy as Thou art holy. As Thou, by the direst temptations, didst glorify Thy humanity, being more than conqueror in every infestation of evil which beset Thee, so may we become regenerate, through Thy divine and continued help. May each trial draw us nearer to Thee, until, by a perfect and willing obedience, we may see the infinity of Thy love in the wondrous acts of Thy providence in our behalf, and be enabled with the suffering man of old to exclaim, "We have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear, but now our eyes behold Thee." Amen.

Our Father, etc,

TUESDAY MORNING,

LORD. Thou knowest our weakness; help us, we pray Thee. When the infestations of evil assault us with their dire malignity, and our hearts fail, and we are ready to perish, then bring to our remembrance the gracious words we have now read, 'I will be with you even unto death," and give us thet inward feeling of security which teaches that Thy promises never fail, that from the bonds of iniquity Thou wilt redeem us: Thou wilt bring us safely through the wilderness, and estab lish us in peaco and safety.

O Lord, we beseech Thee, increase our faith. Impart to us an inward perception of Thy presence, and assist us to feel that which we prafess to believe: that all our faculties, from the least oven untothe greatest, may be enlisted in Thy service; that extornaily Thy will may be done on oarth, as internally it may be done in heaven. Lord, be Thou with us, and bloss the labour of our hands this day. Bless our employers, and prospor them in their undertakings, that they be dispensers of Thy bounty to those over whom Thou hast set them. Bless the efforts of all parents to train their children in the way they should go. Bless the labours of all servants, and give them an assurance that the faithful performance of their duties is also the performance of charity. Let all, both small and great, feel Thy blessing resting upon them. Amen,

Our Father, ets.

TUESDAY EVENING.

HELP us, O Lord Jesus Christ, we beseech Thee, to grow in the knowledge and love of Thy truth. May we not rest satisfied by a knowledge of Thy will, but may we labour industriously to do it. Help us continually to go forward in the work of spiritnal improvement. Much
