forth our gratitade for the manifestation of Thy glorious perfections. Thon art not a God afar off, but Thou art always near unto us. Help us to have a lively faith in Thee, and to repose all our confidence in Thy merey. We have none in heaven but Thee, and there is none upon earth that we desire beside Thee. To Thee, therefore, do we dedicate our service. Our souls—all that we have, all that we are—are Thine, most blessed, most glorified Lord. Accept our humble duty, and may we and all the families of the earth unite in glorifying Thy name—Holy, holy, holy. Lord Jesus. God Almighty! Amen. Our Father, ete.

SATURDAY EVENING. 0 LORD, our heavenly Father | we pray for Thy divine love, for without this love shed abroad in our hearts, in vain would be our efforts to subdue our selfishness, It is this love which is as the bread of the spiritual man; the bread which increases the more it is distributed; the bread which, appropriated, nourishes the soul to everlasting lite. Lord, evermore give us this bread, that we may have wherewithal to dispense mato others.

© Lord our Saviour, we prey that our hearts may be salted with fire, and that every act of worship in which we engage may be aalted with salt; and aa this mineral is the means of preserving from putrefaction, and conduces #0 largely to the health of our bodies, so may the trath of Thy 'Word, the spiritual salt of wisdom, preserve our souls from putrefaction, snd season all our spiritual nourishment with the savour of heavenly in* telligence. Help us. O Lord, to retain this salt in ourselves,—to store our minds with the savour of heavenly doctrine—to value Thy trath more and more, and by its power in overcoming that which is evil, help us so to exercise it that it may ultimately procure us solid and lasting peace. Under the influence of this truth, and praying that it may be unto ns as the angel of Thy presence. O Lord, we retire now to rest, commend ing our souls to Thy gracious keeping. Amen.

ALMIGHTY Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ! There is none like unto Thee; Thou art great, Thy name is glorious, Thy works proclaim Thy goodness, majesty, and power. There is no being to whom we can compare Thee—so august, so magnificent, so awful! Behold the heaven of heavens cannot contain Thee. And yet Thou art willing to take up Thine abode with us, the lowly children of Thy hand's creation; for though Thou inhabitest eternity, Thou dwellest also with the humble; Thou, by Thy gracious presence, revivest the hearts of the contrite ones. And though we neglect to open our hearts at Thy call, still art thou mindful of us, and as a tender Father Thou watchest over us, sending forth Thy dispensations, that we may be awakened to a sense of our true interests and of our dependence upon Thee.

Through this day's desolations Thou hast safely brought us. Why have we been preserved? why has the storm with its swift destruction
