The T'ien Fong T'ah—"Heaven-appointed" Pagoda, Ningpo.

This pagoda was built about A.D. 693, and is, therefore, more than 1200 years old. See text on page opposite. "The form of the Chinese T'ah (pagoda) is probably derived from the spire on the top of the Hindu Dagoba, as its name is doubtless taken from the first syllable of that word."To face page 76.
