Heury was sluin) obtained 7 March 1557/8, a reversal of the attainder ot 1553. Ht« was in great favour with Queen Elizabeth ; whs Chief Pantler, 1559 ; Master of the Ordnance, 1560, and was er, 25 Dec 1561, BARON LISLE, with the usual rem. to heirs male of his boily, and (the next day) 26 Dec. 1561, BARL OF WARWICK with a spec, rem., failing such issue, to his br. Qen. of the English forces in Normandy, in 1562, and, on behalf of the Freuch Protestants at Havre, occupied that town, but was compelled after terrible privations to evacuate it, in July 1563 ; el. ICQ*., 22 April, and in v. at Newhaven in France, being inat. (by proxy) 23 May 1568 ; cr. M.A. of Cambridge, 10 April 1564, and uf Oxford, 6 Sep. 1566 ; Joint Lieut, of the army, 1569, for cruahing the rebellion in the north ; L. Lieut, of co. Warwick, 1569-70, and again, 1587-89 ; Chief Butler of EngUnd, 1571 ; P.O., 1578 ; Lieut of the Order of the Garter, 1575 ; a Commiasr. for the trial of Mary, Queen of Scuts, 1586.() He trt. C^) The descendants of this Margaret were named in the remainder to the Earldom of Warwick conferred on her sister, Anne, in 1450, failing the issue of the said Anne. Such issue (which still exists) was, however, in 1547, under the attainder (1639) of Margaret, Countess of Salisbury, bom Plantagenet, the only grandchild of the said Anne, who left issue.
