He m. 29 Aug. 1765, by spec, lie. at St. Geo. Han. sq., Sophia, da. of Samuel Camphell of Mount Campbell, co. Leitrim. He d. at Auveny, near Nice, in France, 1 Nov. 1777, and was bur. the 24th, at HenbuTy, co. Glouc. Will dak. 27 Sep. 1777, signed -.is " Clifford, pv. 12 Feb. 177S. His widow, who was Governess to the Princess Charlotte of Wales, d. in South Audley street, Midx. 3 and was bur. 11 Aug. 1828, at Henbury, aged 85. Her will &e. dat. 6 March 1824 to 3 May 1825 (in which she is styled " Baroness de Clifford," widow of " Edward, late Baron de Clifford,") signed " Sophia dc Clifford," pr. 30 Oct. 182S. XXI. 1777, 21. Edward (Southwell), Loud Clifford, but who to styled himself, according to the ancient designation of the Barony, 1S3"T Lord de Clifford, 1st s. and h., b. 23 June, and bap. 8 July 1767, at St. Geo. Eton, aq., took his seat 20 April 1789. Hem. 19 Feb. 17S9, by spec. lie. in the parish of St. Anne's, Dublin, Mary Elizabeth, da. of Joseph Deane (Bourke), 3r<l Earl ok Mayo 1 1], Archbishop of Tuam, by Elizabeth, da. of Sir Richard Meade, Bart. [1J. He d. s. p, at Brighton, 30 Sep. 1S32, aged 65 and was bur. 12 Oct. at Henbury, when the Barony, for the fourth time, fell into abeyance. He m. 31 March 1853, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Harriet Agues, 1st da. of Adui. Sir Charles Elliot, K.C.B., by Clara, da. of Robert Harley Windsok. He d. 6 Aug. 1877, at Kirkby Mallory afsd., aged 53. Will pr. 27 Sep. 1S57, under £90,000. His widow liviug 18S7. XXIV. 1827. 8£ Edward Southwell (Russell), Lord de Clifford^ 1 ') 1st s. and h., b. 5 April 1855, at 3 Carlton House terrace. He m. 16 April 1S79, at Easthampstead, Berks, Hilda, 3rd da. of Charles Balfour, of Bracknell, Berks. ( a ) Pedigree shewing the cohcirship to the Barony of De Clifford, at the three several dates (1734, 1776, and 1833) on which the abeyance thereof was terminated. Note. — The figures 1, 3, S, 4, and o, represent the B coheirs in (Aug.) 1734 ; tho figures [1] [2] [3] and [4], the 4 coheirs in 1776, and the figures I, II (ID and IP'), and 1H, the representatives of the three sisters, whose issue became the coheirs, in 1833. Thomas (Tufton), Earl of Thanet, Lord de Clifford, whose right to that Barony (thro' his maternal grandmother, Lady Anne Clifford), was allowed, 1691, as the lineal and sole heir of Robert de Clifford, mm. in 1299 as Lord do Clifford. He d. s.p.m.s. 1729, when the Barony fell into abeyance between his five daughters.
