Wexford [I.] Hem. 24 Feb. 1726/7, Elizabeth, da. of Edward Smith, Bishop ok Down and GtSHHtra, only sister and h. of Edward S. of Dublin. He d. 12 Jauy. 1770. His wife survived him. [G. B. and I.J On 7 June 1796 he was cr. a Peer of Great Britain as BARON SALT ERS FORD of Saltersford, co. Chester. He m. 19 April 1762 at St Geo., Hau. Sq., Mary, da. and coheir of Richard Powysof Hintlesham Hall, Suffolk, by Mary, da. of George (Brudeneix), 3rd EARL OS Cardiuah. She d. 3 aud was bur. 13 Jan. 1810 at Deene, co. Northampton. He d. 30 March following and was bur. 12 April 1810 at Deene afsd. WiU pr. April 1810, and again Dec. 1857. UT. 1810. S. Sq. ; sometime an officer in the Foot Guards ; Lieut.-Col in Villiers's fencible cavalry ; M.P. for Great Bedwyn, 1790-96 ; for Linlithgow burghs, 1796-1802; for Dumfries burghs, 1803-06; for Great Bedwyn, again, 1806-7 ; and for Marlborough, 1807-10 ; Treasurer of the Household, 1793, 1806, and 1806-12; P.C, 1793; Capt. of the Band of Gentleman Pensioners, 1812; Gov. of co. Wexford ; K.P., 28 Dec. 1832. He m. 29 Jan. 1791, in Grovesnor Sq., St. Geo. Han. Sq., Mary, 1st da. of Henry (Scott) 3rd Duke ok Bucclkuch [S.], by Elizabeth, da. and h. of George (Montauc, formerly Bhudenell), Duke of Montagu. She, who whs b. 21 May 2 769, d. 21 April 1828. He d. at the Cloisters, Windsor Castle, 15 June 1835 in his 70th yeav. Admon. Aug. 1836 aud Jau. 1844. IV. 1835. 4. James Thomas (Stopford), Earl of Courtown, &c. He ai. firstly, 4 July 1822, at Montagu House, Privy Gardens (St. Margaret's, Westm,), Charlotte Albiuia, 2nd da. of his maternal uncle, Charles William Henry (Montagu-Scott), 4th Duke of Buccleuch [SJ., by Harriet Catherine, da. of Thomas (Townshend), 1st Viscount Sidney. She, who was 6. 16 July 1799, d. 29 Feb. 1S28. He 711. secondly, 29 Oct. 1850, at St. Peter's, Dublin, Dora, da. of the Rt. Hon. Edward Pennefatheh, Ch. Justice of the Queen's Bench [I.] He d. 20 Nov. 1858, at Courtown House, co. Wexford. His widow d. at Edinburgh, 10 Dec. 1839, aged 34. V. 1858. 5.
