( c ) In his funeral certificate (Coll. of Arms) it is expressly said that he was cv. by letters patent 25 March [1045 J " Marquess of Dorchester and to the heirs mule of his body," and it is added, " dying thus without issue male the dignity of Marquess of Dorchester is extinct." Of his two daughters (1) Ann, bap. 9 March 1030/1, m. 13 July 1658 John Manners, etylei Lord Roos (afterwards 8th Earl and 1st Duke of Rutland), and was divorced' from him (by Act of Pari.) ami her progeny bastardised. She was dead before 11 May 1699, tho' two of her children, named John Manners and Charles Manners, were then living. (2) Grace, aged 4 years in 1039, d. num. 25 March and was bur. 1 April 1703 at St. Anne's Soho. M.I. Hcrwilldat.il May 1099 was pr. 20 March 17C3. This lady (Lady Grace Pierrepont) would seem, if the rem. of the dignity was to the heirs of tho body of the grantee, to have been de jure, 3uo jure Mabchioness ok Doeset. ( d ) Of many children which she had by him, " 77ic Lady Catharine Burn%," b- 1681, was the only survivor, who became in 1099 Countess of Anglesey, aud in 1705 Duchess of Buckingham and Normanby.
