He m. 21 Jan. 1836, at Tester Hay, Susan Georgiana, 1st da. of George (Hay), 8th Mabquess ok Twbedale [S.] by Susan da. of William (Montaod) 5th Duke of Manciikster. She, who was b. 13 March 1817, was sometime Lady of the Bedchamber and d. 6 May 1S53 on board ship on passage from India. He (/'. s.p.m. 19 Dec. 1860, aged 43 at Dalhousie Castle, when the Man/uessatc of Dalhousie [1849) and the Barony »f Psttowi? (1815) both became extinct, but the Scotch dignities devolved as below. He was b. 22 April 1S01 at Brechin Castle, co. Forfar; ed. at Charterhouse School; sometime (12 years) an officer in 79th Highlanders; M.P. for co. Perth, 1835-37 ; for Edinburgh, 1838-41, and for co. Perth (again) 1841-52. Under Sec. of Home dep., 1835-41 ; Vice-Pres. of Board of Trade, June to Sep. 1841 ; Sec. of State for War, 1846-52 and 1855-58 ; being Pies of Board of Control for a few weeks in Feb. 1852. P.C. 1841 ; Lord Rector of the Univ. of Glasgow, 1842 ; Lord Lieut, of co. Forfar, 1849 ; 'Privy Seal [S.] 1853. He sue. his father, as Baron Panmurf, 13 April 1852, and sue. his cousin as Earl of Dalhousie, &c [S.] in 1860 as above stated. K.T. 1S53. G.C.B. (civil) 1855. Took the name of Ramsa y after that of Maule, 1861. He m. 4 April 1831, Montagu, 1st da. of George (Abkbcbomby), 2nd Baron Abercro.vby, by .Montagu, da. of Henry (Dundas) 1st Viscount Melville. She, who was b. 25 May 1807, d. (as Baroness Panmure) 11 Nov, 1853, at Pitfour Castle, co. Perth. He d. s.p., 6 July 1874 at Brechin Castle, when the Barony of Panmure became extinct, but the Scotch dignities devolved as below. Earldom [S.] 1 Jg and 13. He J was b. 26 April 180C and served in the navy, 1820-61 being in the Baltic expedition, 1851 ; superintendent of Pembroke Dockyard 1857-62 : Com. -in-Chief on the South American Station, 1866- 69 ;Vice-Admir«l, 1869 and Admiral, 1875. O.B. 1856. On 12 June 1875 he was or. BARON RAMSAY OF GLENMARK, co. Forfar. He m, 12 Aug. 1845, Sarah Frances, da. of William Robertson, of Logan House, Scotland. He d. suddenly 20 July 1880 at Dalhousie Castle. His widow living 1889. Earldom [S.] 1 IS and 14. John William (Ramsay), Earl XIIL op Dalhousie, &c. [S.], also Baron Ramsay of Glen- M880 mabk, b. and h., 6. 29 Jany. 1847 ; Lieut. R.N., 1867; Barony [S.] ! ' styled Lord Ramsay, 1874-80; C ommander R.N., 1874-79; vrrr niatric. at Oxford (Ball Coll.), 20 Oct. 1875. Equerry to A1V - J H -R.il. the Duke of Edinburgh, 1874-76 and extra Equerry 1876-80. M.P. for Liverpool, March to July 1880 ; one of the Lords in Waiting, 1880-85; Secretary for Scotland, March to Aug. 1886. He m. 6 Dec. 1777, at St. James, Westm., Ida Louisa, 2d da. of Charles (Bennet), 6th Earl of Tankebville, by Olivia.da. of George (Montagu), 6th Dukb op Manchester. She who was b. .22 June 1857, d. (of blood poisoning) 24 Nov. 1887, at the Hotel Frascati, Havre. He d. there (4 days afterwards) 28 Nor. 1887, both being bar. together (from 5 Hereford Gardens, Midx.) at Cockpen. His will, dat. 24 Sep. 1886, pr. Dec. 1887, at £11,438.
