Elizabeth, Countess of Moira [I.], and suo jure Barunkss Botreaux, Hungerkord, de Moleyns, Hastings de Hastings, and Hastings de Hungerkord, only surv. sister and h., being 1st da. of Theophilus (Hastings), 9th Earl of Huntingdon abovenarned, by Selina, da. and coheir of Washington (Suirley), 2d Karl Ferrers. She was b. 23 March 1731, and was Lady of the Bedchamber to the Princesses Amelia and Caroline, 1749. She m. (as his third wife) 26 Feb. 1752, John (Kawdon), 1st Earl ok Moira [I.], who d. She, who was well known for her literary talents and as a leader of the Dublin Society, d. 11 April 1808, aged 77, at Moira House, co. Coll.), 23 Oct. 1771 ; entered the Army, 1771, in which he finally, 1803, became General, being, 1804-26, Col. of the 27th Foot. He served in the American war; was wounded in 1775 at Bunker hill ; was in command in 1780 at Camden and gained a considerable victory over a much superior force, 25 April 1781, at Hobkirks hill. He was M.P. for Randalstowu, co. Antrim, 1780-83, and was (v.p.) <•>:, 5 March 17S3, BARON RAWDON, of Rawdon, co. York. By Royal lie, 10 Feb. 1790, he took the name of Hastings after his patronymic of Rawdon, in compliance with the will of his maternal uncle Francis, Earl of Huntingdon abovenarned. By the death of his father, 20 June 1793, he became Earl of Moira, &c. [I.] P.O. 1S06, being in the Ministry of "All ilu Talents " ; Master Gen. of the Ordnance, LS06-07 ; Constable of the Tower, 1806-26. He t«e.
