He m. in 1009 (at her age of 13), Eleanor, da. and h. of Thomas Dutton, of Dutton co. Chester, by Thomasiue, da. of (— ) Anderton. He d 1622. Will pr. 1621. H is widow m. (settl. 31 Oct. 1636), as his second wife, Robert (Needham), 2nd Viscount Kilmouey [I.], who <L 12 Sep. 1653. She d. at Dutton, 12 March 1665/6, aged 69 and was bur. at Great Budworth. Will dat. 20 Jan. 1663/4, pr. at Chester, 16 June 1666. III. 1G22. 3. Dutton (Gerard), Baron Gerard of Gerard's Bromley, only s. and h., 6. 4 March 1613, and sue. to the Peerage in 1622. He m. firstly, Mary, da. of Francis (Fane), 1st Haul ok Westmorland, by Maiy, da. and h. of Sir Anthony Mildmay. She was b. 1605. He hi. secondly, Elizabeth, 3d da. and coheir of Henry (O'Brien), 5th Earl of Th imonD [I.], by Mary, da. of William (Bukkbion), 1st Baron Brereton of LsiOBUH [1.] He d. 22 April -1640, aged 28, and was bur. at Ashley. Admon. 18 July 1640. Will dat. IS April and pr. 2 Dec. 1610. His widow m. Philip Wenman, afterwards (1664-96), 3d Viscoont Wenman [I.], who d. 20 April 1696, aged 85. Her will dat. 9 April 1656, pr. 30 June (1659.') 1658. IV. 1640. 4- Charles (Gerard), Baron Gerard of Gerard's Bromley, only s. and h. by first wife ; sue. to the Peerage, 22 April 1640. He m. (Lie. Vic. Gen., 28 Nov. 1660, he 26, and she 23), Jane, da. and h. of George Dioby, of Sandon, co. Stafford, by Mary, da. of Sir Walter Chetwynd, of Ingestrie, in that co. He d. 28 Dec. 1667, in London, and was bur. at Ashley. Admon. 13 April 1668. His widow m. Sir Edward HnxuERFuRD and was living 28 May 1692,(") as his vife.( h ) V. 1667. ■". (whose issue, in 1702, became coheir) to Charles (GERARD), 1st Earl of Macclesfield, by Jane, da. of Pierre dk Civell, a Frenchman. He d. s.p m. 8 Oct. 1684.( c ) Admon. 24 Oct. 1684 to his widow. Her will dat. 13 Jan. 1693,9, pr. 26 April 1700 and 9 Feb. 1725/6. VI. 1684. G. Charles (Gerard), Baron Gerard of Gerard's Bromley, cousin and h. male, being a. and h. of Richard Gerard() (<£. 16S0), who was s. and h. of the Hon. John Gerard (d. 1673), a yr. son of the 1st Baron. He sue. to the Peerage 8 Oct. 1684. He in, Mary, da. of Sir John Wr.nn, Bart., of Odstock. He d. s.p. 21 April 1707, aged 48. Will dat. 14 March 1706, pr. Nov. 1708. ( c ) His widow d. abroad. Will pr. Oct. 1731. YII. 1707, 7. Philip (Gerard), Baron Gerard of Gerard's to Bromley, yst. but only surv. br. and h,, ft. 1 Dec. 1665; became 1733. a Jesuit father. He sue. to the peerage (but not to any of the estates), 8 Nov. 1684. He d. unm. 4 May 1733, aged 68, when the Barony became extinct. (") Will of Walter Chetwynd, pr. 4 April 1693. Stafford, and having come up to London to assist the 5 Lords, who were falsely accused of high treason (by Oates ami Dngdale), in the "Popish Plot," was committed to prison and d. of the gaol lever, 11 March 1680. ( c ) He thereby confirms the settlement on his sister Frances, wife of Thomas Fleetwood and her issue. In 1715, these possessed lands in Staffordshire worth £1,286, and in Cheshire worth £1,349 a year, while Mary, Dow. Baroness Gerard, held lav. Is in jointure worth £1,000 a year in each of those counties,
