Walter Ker, of Ccssford. Both were living 10 May 1191. III. 1485. 3. John (Lyon), Lord Glamis [S.l, br. and h. Ho was P.O. to James IV. [S.] ; Justiciary [S.J, 1489; ambassador to England, 1 191. He m. before 17 April 1479, Elizabeth, da. of Sir John SCBIMGBOCB, of Dudhope, Constable of Dundee. He d. at Gluniis, 1497. IV. 1497. 4- John (Lyon), Lord Glamis [S.], s. and h. He m. (settl. 18 May 14S7) EHzabeth, 1st da. of Andrew (Gray), 3d Loud Gray [S.] by his first wife, Janet, da. and h. of Robert Keith. He d. in 1500. His widow m. (as second wife) before 27 July 1511, Alexander (Gordon), 4th Earl OP Huntly [S.], whorf. 16 January 1523/4. She m. thirdly, before 9 January 1525/6 (as second of his five wives) George (Leslie), Earl of Rothes [S.], who d. 2S Nov. 1558. V. 1500. 5. George (Lyon), Lord Glamis [S.], 1st s. and h., who had a charter, 31 Oct. 1501, but who d. a minor and unm. iu 1505. VI. 1505. G. John (Lyon), Lord Glams [S.], br. and h. He m. before 12 Dec. 1527, Janet, sister of Archibald, Earl of Angus [S.], da. of George Douglas, Master of Angus, by Elizabeth, da. of John (Dru.mmond), 1st Lord Drummond [S.] He d. 8 Aug 1528, in his 37th year. Hia widow m. Archibald Campbell, of Kepneith [Skipness ?]. She and her (second) husband were accused of plotting the King's death. He perished by a fall from the rocks in endeavouring to escape from Edinburgh Castle, while she was horribly burnt to death, as a ivilch, 17 July 1537, on the Castle hill, Edinburgh. VII. 1528 7. John (Lyon:), Lord Glamis [S.], only s. and h., to was convicted of treason (with his mother| 10 July 1537, and 1537 J sentenced to death when he became of age, his estates and dignities am being then forfeited tho' restored by Pari. 15 March 1542/3. He m. 1543 Janet, sister of William, 4th Earl Marisohal [S.], da. of Robert Keith, styled Lord Keith, by Elizabeth, da. of John (Douglas), 2d Earl of Morton [S.] He d. 1558. VIII. 1558. S. John (Lyon), Lord Glamis [S.], s. and h. By charter, 28 April 1567, he made entail of his lands on his heirs male whatsoever. P.O., 1570; an Extraordinary Lord of Session [S.], 1570-73; High Chancellor [S.J, 1575, in which capacity he had to signify to the Regent Morton in 1578 the King's resolution to take the Government into Ins own hands. He hi., before 2 July 1569, Elizabeth, da. of Alexander (Abernethy), Lord Saltoun [S.], by Alison, 3d da. of William (Keith), 4th Earl Marischal [S.] He d. 17 March 1578, being slain in an affray near Stirling.( b ) IX. 1578. 9. (and. sometime, heir presumptive), Thomas Lyon, of Auldbar, known as " Tutor (or " Master ") of Glamis," took an active part in the "raid of Ruthven," 23 Aug. 1582, and was a person of great note, temp. Jac. VI. [S.]. ( c ) The Earldom of Kinghorn was by charter, 1 July 1677, changed into the Earl- dom of Stratkmore and Kinghorn, with the ancient precedency.
