He was b. about 1750 and me. his br., William Carmiehael, 27 May 177S, in the family estate of Mauldsley ; iuc. to (ht parage [S.], -1 Dee. 1787. He <l. unin. at MauldsleY Castle 14 Feb. 1811. VI. 1811, H. Andrew (Cakmichael), Earl of Hv.vdford [1701], to VlSCOLNT OF iNGLIEBEliUV [1701], LOKD CaiiMICHAEL [1647], and 1817. Loud Cabmichakl of Cah.micbael [1701], in the peerage of Scotland, yst. br. and h. ; sometime, 1776-94, an officer in the 16th Light Dragoons, serving in the American war. He d. uum. 18 April 1817, ill his 60th year,(») when all his honours became either extinct or dormant.(*>) (") The Mauldsley estate devolved on his nephew, Archibald Nisbet, of Carfiu, s. aud h. of his only sister, Grizel, wife of Archibald Carfin. ( h ) Major Johu Carmiehael, 6th Dragoon Guards, laid claim to the Earldom about 182o and there have, also, been other claimants.
