Ho is said to have fought against the Stuart cause at Killiecrankie in 1689 tho' he afterwards joined the court of King James II. at St. Germains.(») He </. April 169S. VI. 1G138, G. Joining in the Jacobite rising, he set up the standard of King Jama" at Loehmaben, 12 Oct. 1715, ami was in chief command of the insurgent forces in the south of Scotland, but was taken prisoner at Preston, 13 Nov. following, tried before the House of Lords. 19 Jan. 1715/6, and, pleading guilty, was beheaded (with the Karl of Derwentwater) on Tower Hill 24 Feb. 1 7 ! 5/6 ( h ; Having beeu attainted his estates and honours were forfeited.
