Lancaster, sue. to a life interest in the Wigan estates of about £17,000 a year, he took the name of Leigh after his patronimic of Pembcrttm, by Royal lie. 7 March 1843, and retired from practise at the Bar, becoming Chancellor at the Duchy of Cornwall and B.C. in 1843. For above 20 years he gave the greatest attention to his duties as a member of the Judicial Committee, declining the Great Seal from the Derby Minhtrv in 185S, but being cr. 28 Aug. 1858, BARON KINGSDOWN of Kings- down, eo. Kent. He d. umn. 7 Oct. 1S67, aged 74, at his residence, Torre Hill, near Sittiugbourne, Kent, when the peerage became cxtinct.(") KINGSLAND. Sett " Darxewall or Kingslaxd, co.
