He m. firstly, 2 June 1858, at Rathaspeeck, Jane Cololougb, yr. da. and coheir of Hamilton Kuox Groc.aN-Morc.an, of Johnstown Castle, co. Wexford, by Sophia Maria, da. of Ebenezer Radford Howe, of Ballyharty, co. Wexford. She d. s.p.m., 22 Jan. 1872, in her 32d year, at Johnstown Castle afsd. He vi. secondly, 4 Sep. 1873, at Thorndon Hall, Essex, Frances Mary, 1st da. of William Bernard (Petrk), 12th Bar >n Petre op Whittle, by Mary Theresa, da. of the Hon. Charles Thomas Clifford. Family Estates.— These, in 1883, consisted of 14,928 acres in co. Longford ; 4,266 in co. Leitrim and 2,050 in co. Wexford. Total 21,294 acres, worth £9,840 a year. Principal Residence. Barony by Sir Otho de Grandi30N,(") was, in 1276, made Governor Writ. °f the islands of Guernsey and Jersey by King Edward I., whom, when Prince, he had attended in the Holy Laud aud from whom, in I. 1299, 1281, he received large grants of land, including the town of to Tipperary. In 1289, being then Secretary to the King, he was sent 1305 1 on an embassy to Rome and was subsequently employed in other important missions. He was sum. to Pari, as a Baron [LORD GRANDISON] by writs from 21 Sep. ( 1299), 27 Ed. I., to 22 Jan. (1304/5), 22 Ed. I. He d. abroad and R.p., probably about 1305, but certainly before (12 Ed. Camden considers the family to be one of those who came hither from the Netherlands at the Conquest. Dugdale says nothing whatever on the subject. Leland speaks of William Grandison as " de geuere Imperatoris, qui frater fuit nobilissimi Dni Othonis de Grandisoue in Burtjundia diocesis Lauccnensis ubi caBtium de Graudisono est situm firmis saxis."
