Barony [8.] 1. Sir John Semtill, of Eliotstonrj, co. Renfrew, only I. 1489 ? an< ^ 'I'bomas Semi'H.i., of the same, by Elizabeth, said to be "da. or sister of John, 1st Loud Boss " [S.J was cr. bv James IV. [S.] a Peer of Pari., LORD SEMPILL [S.], probably in or before 1489(' 1 ) and certainly before 12 March 1 49 1/5, when in a charter he is so designed. He sat in Pari. 1 8 March 1503/4, and founded a collegiate church near his castle of SempUl, in 1505. He m. firstly Margaret, da. of Sir Robert Colvili.k. of Ochiltree, which lady was living 9 Sep. 1501. He m. secondly, before 16 Feb. 1505/6, Margaret, widow of Sir William Stihuno, of Keir, da. of James Ciiichton, of Ruthvendeny. By her, who was living 2 June 1511, he had no issue.
