He m. in 1392, Anne, da. of '1 nomas (Plantagenkt), Duke of Gloucester (6th s. of Ed. III.) by Eleanor, da. and coheir of Humphrey (de Bohun), Earl of Hereford, &c. He d. s.p., 4 July 1392, and was bur. At .Stone afsd. Will dat. 7 Oct. 1391. His child-widow (then aged 9) m. in 139S, his hr. Edmund, the 4th Earl, whom see. Earldom.! IV. Barony. V. Earldom. V. Edmund (Stafford), Earl of Staf- ford, &c, br. and h., b. about 1378, being 17 when he sue. 1395 P e, rage in April 1395, was sum. to Pail., 19 Aug. ' 1399 ; K.B., 12 Oct. 1399, at the coronation of Hen. IV. ; Joint Lieut, of North Wales, 1402 : K.G. (probably in April) 1402; L. High Constable, 1403. He m. 1398 Anne, the childless widow of his eldest brother, Thomas, 3d Earl of Stafford, da. and eventually sole h. of Thomas (Plantagenet, called "of Woodstock"), Duke of Gloucester (6th and yst. s. of Edward III.), by Eleanor, da. and coheir of Humphrey (de Bohun), Eahl of Hereford, &c. He was slain when in command of the van of the Royal army at Shrewsbury, 21 July 1403, aged about 25,( b ) and was bur. at the Friars Augustine, Stafford. ( ,: ) Admon. 19 May 1405, at Lambeth. His widow, who was b. April 13S3, m. Sir William Bourchier, Count of Ku, in Normandy (so er. 10 June 1419), who d. 28 Slay 1420. She d. 16 Oct. 143S, and was bur. in Llauthony Abhey, near Gloucester. Will, in which she styles herself " Countess of Stafford, Buckingham, Hereford, and Northampton," dat. the day of her death. Earldom. VI. Barony. VII. 1403. 3 E i/> <s, o G sad 7. He appears to have been in right of his mother( d ) con- sidered EARL OK BUCK INGHAM (") and was or. 14 Sep. 1444, DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM, having previously beeu er. in or before 13 Feb. 1443/4, COUNT OF l'ERCHE, in Normandy.(f) He was slain on the Lancastrian side at the battle of Northampton, 10 July 1460. U luis lady, however, did not die till Oct. 1438. In her will of that date sha "tyles herself Countess of Stafford, Buckingham, &c. }J £ ee vo '- », p. 63, note " n," sub " Buckingham." IMhomas (de Montacute), Earl of Salisbury, who had been cr. 26 April 1419, uidnt op Perche, in Normandy, d. s.p.m., 1428, when that dignity became extinct.
