Thomas (Stourton), Barox Stourton, next surv, br. and h.,( c ) bap. 14 June 1667, and ttte. to the pierage, Oct. 1720. He m. his cousin Elizabeth, 2d da. of John Stourton, of Over Moyne, co. Dorset, by ( — ) da. of John liKNNET, of Abingdon, CO. Berks. He d. s.p. at Bonham *) in Stourton, 24 March 1743/4, and was bur. 1 April 1714, at Stourton, aged 76. Will dat. 19 April 1738, pr. 2 May 1744. His widow was bur. there 19 June 1749. XV. 1744. 15. Charles (Stourton), Barox Stourton, nopliew ami lr, being 1st s. and h. of the Hon. Charles Stourton, (.'apt. nf the Guard, temp. Jac. It, by Katharine, da. of Richard Framiton, of Moreton, co. Dorset, which Charles (who d. at Liege, 10 Sep. 1739, in his 70th year) was br. to the late Baron, being 5th son( c ) of William, the 12th Baron. He was b. 2 March 1701/2, and sue. to the peerage, 24 March 1743/1. He 2 April 1733. Cath Brine, l>ov. Baroness Petre ok Whittle, sister and h. of Francis, and da. of Bartholomew Walmeslkv, of Duukenhalgh, co. Lancaster, by Dorothy, da. and h. of John Smith. Herf. s.p. 11 March 1753, aged 51, at Sheen, and was bur, at Cheam. co. Surrey. Admon. 21 May 1753. His widow, who was b. 4 Jan. 1697, d. 31 Jan. 1785, aged 88, ami mis bur. (with her first husband) at Ingatestone, co. Essex. Will dat. 25 Aug. 1783, pr. 7 Feb. 1785. XVI. 1753. 16. William (Stourton), Baron Stourton, next surv. br. and h., being 3d a. of the Hon, Charles Stourton, abovenamed : b. Aug. 1704 ; •»(«•. to the peerage, 11 March 1753. He IS., 11 Oct. 1749, Winifred, eldest of the two daughters and coheirs of Philip Howard, of Buckeuham, co. Norfolk (br. to Thomas and Edward, Dukfs of Norfolk), being only child of his first wile, Winifred, da. of Thomas Stonor, of Sionor, co Oxon. She, who was 4. 31 Aug. 1736, d. at Bristol (Bath, acording to the Grid. Mag.) 15, and was bur. 19 July 1753, at Stourton, aged 26. He d. 3 Oct. ] 781, at Withani place, co. Essex, and was bar. at Witham, aged 77. Admon. 13 Oct. 1781. XVII. 1781. 17. Charles Philip (Stourton), Barox Stourton, only s. and h., b. 22 Aug. 1752. By the death of his mother's nncle, Edward (Howard), Duke ok Norfolk, 20 Sep. 1777, he became nwiSr «• heir to the Ilaroiiies of Mowbray and Si grave. He me, to the peerage, 3 Oct. 1781, ('•) in this is mentioned that he was " primus exclusorum sine dotuus Baronuni in Parliamentariis apud Magnates sessionilms et sud'ragiis, propter Don ejurare fideffl avorura sanctum." This disability continued to his successors, who retained their ancient faith, till the Catholic Emancipation Act, temp. Geo. IV. ( b ) This hue old Baronial mansion was then pulled down and the present house, called Stourhead, built by Henry Hoare, whose grandson, Richard, was n: a Bart. ia 1786. ( c ) Another Thomas, his immediate senior, had d. in infancy. ( d ) This part of the Stourton estate was retained by the family till 17S5. ( e William, his immediate senior, had d. in infancy.
