Sir TnoMAS Savage, Bart,, of Rock Savage, co. t li'-if Chester, s. and h. of Sir Thomas Savaiie, 1st Hart, (so cr. 29 June • iu - u - XGl 1 ) of the same, by Mary, (hi. and coheir of Richard Al.LINGTON, was b. before 15S2 ; knighted 2 July 1817 ; '<"■ his father M July 1615; and, having m. 14 May 1602, (») Elizabeth, "eldest da. of Thomas (DaRotL Baron Daiicv of Ciiichk, afterwards Viscount Colchesteii and Earl Rivf.us (which Last two peerages were created 1621 and 1626 with a spec. rem. in his favour) was cr. 4 Nov. 1626, VISCOUNT SAVAGE( b ) on the same day that his said father in law was cr. Earl Rivers. He was first Commissioner of Trade, 1626, Chancellor to the Queen Consort, 1628 and Councillor to her in 1631. He d. of "the running gout," at his house in Tower hill, 20 Nov. 1685, aged about 55, and was bar. at Macclesfield. Funeral certif. in Coll. of Anns. Admon., as of St. Olave's, Hart street, London, 7 Dec. 1635 to his widow. She was cr. 21 April 1641 (some 15 months after her father's death) COUNTESS RIVERS for life. See fuller particulars of her under that title. She d. 9 March 1650/1, and was bur. at St. Osyth's, co. Essex. II. 1133. 2. John (Savage), Viscount Savage, s. and b., b. before 1610, rue. on the death of his maternal grandfather, 21 Feb. 1639/10, as EARL RIVERS, &c. I. ; knighted at Whitehall, 23 July 1603 ; High Steward of the honour of Pontefract; Comptroller of the Household^' 1 ) 1625-2S, was cr 21 July 1628, BARON SAVILE OF POMFRET, co. York for his life, with rem. in tail male respectively to " Thomas, Viscount Savile and Baron of Castlebar in Ireland, rem. to (a) "Fair Mistress Darcie" m. on Ascension day, 1602.
