APPENDIX E SCOTTISH PEERAGES FORFEITED AFTER THE RISINGS OF 1715 AND 1745, AND SUBSEQUENT RESTORATIONS 1715 By the Rising of 17 15 no less than 19 Scottish Peerages, together with the Earldom of Derwentwater, the Barony of Widdrington, and the Dukedom of Ormond in England (which last, however, was held with the Barony of Dingwall [S.], and so is included among the 19 Scotish Peerages abovenamed) •^^xe. forfeited by attainder. This, however, in ten cases (those marked *) was reversed by acts of Pari, in 1824, 1826, and subsequently, while in one case, that of Sinclair, it came to an end. This list [S.] is (alphabetically arranged) as under : —

  • YivYYVs (Sutherland), Barony. Restored (nominatim) 16 May 1826;

dormant or extinct 30 Jan. 1827.

  • Kenmure (Gordon), Viscountcy. Restored (nominatim) 17 June

1824 ; dormant or extinct i Sept. 1847. Kilsyth (Livingston), Viscountcy. The Grantee's heirs male of the body, extinct 12 Jan. 1733. Kingston (Seton), Viscountcy ; extinct ^hovit 1726. Linlithgow and Calendar fLmw^i/ow^, Earldom. The Grantee's heirs male of the body, extinct 25 April 1723.

  • Mar (Erskine), Earldom. Restored (nominatim) 17 June 1824,

and, again, 6 Aug. 1885. Marischal (Keith), Earldom. The Grantee's heirs male of the body existed down to 1833, and possibly later.
