THE CURSE AT FAREWELL

For notes sce pp $1.

(Kach, at the conclusion of a thousand years of study in the forest-hermitage of Sukra, Preceptor of the Daityas, bids farewell to Debjant, Sukra’s daughter, and asks for her blessing on the know- ledge he has won.]

KACH

Debjant, bid your servant now return

To the Gods’ world. I finish my sojourn

In my preceptor’s house to-day. ‘Then give

Your benediction'—let my knowledge live

A jewel-brightness in my deepest breast,

As burns the sun on sacred Meru’s? crest,

With glory unquenchable.
