The genus Liothrix contains one remarkable species of hill-bird, which is characterized by a slightly forked tail, the feathers of which are gently curved oittwards; the bill is about half the length of the head, stout and with the culmen curved. It resembles very closely the bill of Mesia, figured below (p. 354). The tail is quite square at the tip and the upper tail-coverts are long. The species extends from Simla in the Western Himalayas, East into China and South into S. Burma and Siam. It is divisible into several geographical races. Liothrix lutea. Key to Suhsjpecies. A.
