now Cbowan, Canggaree, Nachee, Tamafee, Cocfab, &c. Their coun try had an old wafte field of feven miles extent, and feveral others of fmal- ler dimenfions ; which (hews that they were formerly a numerous people, to cultivate fo much land with their dull (lone-axes, before they had an opportunity of trading with the Englifh, or allowed others to incorporate with them.
