Bangalore, 1900; became Lecturer in History, Central College, Bangalore, 1904; became Assistant Inspector-General of Education, Mysore State, 1913-14; again reverted to Central College, Bangalore, as Professor of English; nominated a Fellow of the Madras University, 1912; is an ex-President, and now a Member of the South Indian Association, Madras; Member of the Mythic Society, Bangalore. Publications: The Augustan Age of Tamil Literature; The Life of Ramanuja; and Ancient India. Address; Mylapore, Madras.

Lakshminarasu Naidu, Pokala, B.A., Professor of Physical Science,Pachaiyappah’s College, Madras; belongs to a respectable Telugu Velama family; passed B.A., 1882; joined the Madras Christian College as Assistant Professor; joined the staff of the Pachaiyappah’s College, Madras, 1908; Secretary of the Social Reform Association in Southern India; greatly interested in the advancement of education; connected with a large number of Associations, in one capacity or another; Fellow, Madras University since 1909; Member, Faculty of Arts, Madras University; was President of the Conference of the Social Reformers held at Trichinopoly; was Honorary Secretary of the Madras Mahajana Sabha and also of the National Fund and Industrial Association. Laurie, Henry Montague, M.A., Bar-at-Law, I.C.S., Commissioner of Nerbudda Division, C.P., India; b. 1865; educ: Balliol College, Oxford, and in Germany; passed B.A., 1887; called to Bar (Middle Temple), same year; joined the I.C.S., 1886; arrived in India, 1837; became Registrar, Judicial Commissioner’s Court, 1895; Divisional Judge, Hoshangabad, 1899; 2nd Secretary to Chief Commissioner, 1900; Chief Secretary to Chief Commissioner, 1903; became Commissioner, Chhatisgarh Division, 1905; special duty in connection with the organisation of the Dong District, 1905; Political Agent. Chhatisgarh Feudatories, 1906; appointed Commissioner of Nerbudda, 1908.

Marsden, Dr. Frederick, Dyeing Expert to the Government of Madras, since 1911; educ: Underwent scientific training at the Owen’s College, Victoria University, Manchester, and at the Heidelberg University; was in charge of certain Experimental Works in Bavaria for two years; took a course of training in dyeing at the Leeds University; was employed for some time with a firm which made a speciality with aniline black dyeing; was for some years Abstractor of foreign journals for the Society of Dyers and Colourists and for the Society of Chemical Industry; appointed Dyeing Expert to Madras Government, 1911, for two years; services extended for 3 years, 1913.
