It seems then that the American people at the close of the nineteenth century exercised more frequently their privilege of voting, especially at federal elections, and took a deeper interest in political affairs, than did the Fathers at the close of the eighteenth. In these facts may be seen some of the efforts of a century of popular education and democratization.
