(AMENDMENT) ACT 1968

An Act of Parliament to amend the National Flag, Emblems
and Names Act

ENACTED by the Parliament of Kenya, as follow:—
Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the National Flag, Emblems and Names (Amendment) Act 1968.
Amendment of section 2 of Cap. 99. 2. Section 2 of the National Flag, Emblems and Names Act (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) is amended by inserting, immediately before the definition of "specified emblem" which appears therein, a new definition as follows—
"the National Anthem" means the national anthem the words and music of which are set out in the Third Schedule of this Act.
Amendment of section 2a of principal Act. 3. Section 2a of the principal Act is amended by inserting at the end thereof a new paragraph as follows—
2em|-2em|(4) The anthem of which the words and music are set out in the Third Schedule of this Act is hereby declared to be the National Anthem of Kenya.
Amendment of section 2b of principal Act. 4. Section 2b of the principal Act is amended by substituting the words "the National Flag, Armorial Ensigns or Public Seal of Kenya" the words "the National Anthem, or to any specific emblem, specified likeness or specified name"
Amendment of First Schedule of principal Act. 5. The First Schedule of the Act is amended—
(a) in Part I thereof, by adding at the end of paragraph 4 thereof the words "or by Proclamation";
(b) in Part II thereof by replacing item 2 thereof with a new item as follows—
2. The words "Harambee", "Jamhuri" and "Madaraka".
