Act ■ discharging Tradesmen to Import Made work THe Kings Majesty, confidcring the great difcouragement given to Manufadturies and Trades, by Tradesmen's bringing home from Forraign placed, fuch Commodities as may be made within the Kingdom, by thefe of the fame Trade; Doth Eherefore, with advice and content of the Eftates of Parliament, Inhibit andDifcharge all Tradef-men and Mechanicks, to Import from Forraign parts any Made-work belonging to that Trade or Calling whereof they are Free-men ; or to vend the fame, or any fuch Ware brought home by .Merchants, in their Shops or othcrwayes, under the juin ofConflfcaticn, the one half to His Majep.es uie, and the other to the- apprehender or pur- fuer of the fame. XLVIII. Act for encouraging ofSoa^works. THe Kings mod Excellent Majesty, tonfidering the great advantage this His ancient Kingdom hath had, and may have by erecting and keeping up of Soap-works, whereby the Eafterh. Trade and Green-land Fiihing will be much helped, by Importing of Pot-afhes and other Materials ; and money brought into the Kingdom, by the Exported Soap made within the fame; And His Ma- jesty being fenfible of the prejudice this Kingdom hath fuCered during thefe troubles, by the decay of thefe works, and being willing to give all due encouragements to the fame for the future; Doth therefore, with advice and confent of the Eftates of Parliament, Declare all Oyl, Pot-afhes, and other Materials of any kinde whatfoever, to be Imported for the ufe of Soap-works or making of Soap, and all Ssap made within the Countrey, to be free of all Cuftom and Excife, and all other publick or private Dues whatfoever ; and alfo that all Soap, fo made and Exported, ftialibe tree for the fpace of ninteen years after the fetting up of thefe works, and after the date "hereof, for luch woYks as are already kz up ; and difcharges all Cuftomers, Collectors or Fermerers of Excife or Cuftom, and all others whatfoever to demand Cuftom, Excife or other Duty, tor any Oyl, Pot-allies, Tallow, or other Materials Imported for making of Soap, or ufe of Soap-works allanerly,or ior Soap made within the Kingdom, and exported as faid is. XLIX. Act Reducwg^he Annuals to fix for the Hundred. THe Kings Majefty, with advice and confent of the Eftates of Parliament, Hath thought fit upon diverfe good confiderations, to Reduce, Likeas hereby they do Reduce, the Annualrents of all money within this Kingdom, to fix for the Hundred yearly, in all time coming. And Declares tile faid fix for the Hundred to be free of all Retention, or other publick Burdens whatfoever. L. Act and Offer of Twtl-bethoufandpoUnds Sterling to the Lords of Sejfion. FOrafrriuch as among the many and unparallel'd bleflings, wherewith it hath plcafed the Almighty GOD to vifit thefe Kingdoms, in the return of His Majesty to the exercife of His Royal Govern- ment, it is the grcateft happinefleofthis Kingdom, that the ordinary Judicatories, the fountains and feats of •Jaftice; are by His Majesty eftabliflied, according to their ancient and well grounded Con- ftitutions; And the Eftates of Parliament confidering, how much it doth import the advancement of His Majesties fervicej the honour of the Kingdom, and the good of the Subjects, that the Senators of the Cplledge of juftice (who are the Supream Judges under His Majesty, in all civil Caufes) ihouid be provided to a competent allowance, towards their charge and expenfes, in their attendance on this their publick Adminiftratioh. And , underftahding, that by the calling down of the Annualrents from ten to fix of the hundred; and by the disability of fome Debitors, and by laying afide the twentieth penny of Sentence-fiber, (which is conceived to be an unequal burden and grievance to fuch as miilfc lute the benefit of the Law , and fo are Jyabk thereto 3 before they can have repe- tition
