LXXXIII. 'Malcolme 2. Kenneth 3. his ſonne, begane to reigne in the zeire of the warld 4974. In the yeire of Chriſt 1004. A valiant and a wiſe Prince, quha maid manie gud lawes, of the quhilk a few are zit extant. He was ſlaine by a conſpiracie of his Nobles at the Caſtell of Glammes, who after the ſlaughter, thinking to eſcape, were drowned in the Loch of Forfar, for it being winter, and the loch frozen and covered with ſnaw the yce brake and they fell in, In the righteous judgement of God. He reigned 30 zeires.

LXXXV Mackbeth, Dovada Malcome the ſecond his daughters Sonne, began to reigne in the zeire of the warld, 5010. In the zeir of Chriſt, 1040. In the beginning of his reigne he behaved himſelfe as a gud and juſt Prince, bot thereafter he degenerated into a cruell tyrant. He was ſlayn eby his Succeſſour Malcome 3. in battel, in the 17 zeire his reign.

LXXXVI. Malcolme 3. ſurnamed Cammoir, Duncane 1. his ſonne, began to reigne in the zeir of the warld, 5027. In the zeir of Chriſt. 1057. a very religious and valiant Prince: He maried Margaret, daughter to Edward, ſurnamed the Outlaw, Sonne to Edward, ſurnamed Yronſide, King of England, a verie gud and religious woman, according to theſe times, who bare unto him ſex ſonnes, and two daughters, the ſonnes were, Edward the Prince, Edmound, Etheldted, Edgar, Alexander, David, the Daughters were Mathildis, or Maude, ſurnamed Bona: wife to Henry' 1. ſurnamed Beauclere King of England, of whoſe vertues is extant that auld Epigramme.

LXXXVIII. Duncane 2. uſurped the Crown, in the zeir of the warld 5064. In the zeir of Chriſt 1094. A raſh and fooliſh Prince: He was ſlaine be Makpendir the Thane of the Meirnes, when he had reigned little over a zeir be the procurement of Donald 7.

Donald 7. maid King againe in the zeir of the warld. 5065. In the zeir of Chriſt. 1095. and reigned 3. zeires. He gave the Weſt and North Iles to the King of Norway, for to aſſiſt him to attein to the Crown of Scotland. He was taken captive by Edgar, his eies put out, and died miſerably in Priſon.

LXXXIX Edgar, Malcolme 3. his ſonne, began to reigne in the zeire of the warlde 5068. In the zeire of Chriſt 1098. He builded the Priorie of Coldingham. He was a gud prince. He died at Dundie without ſucceſſion, and was buried at Dumfermeline, in the 9. zeire of his reigne.

XC. Alexander 1. ſur-named Pearce, ſucceeded to his brother, in the zeire of the warld 5077. In the zeire of Chriſt 1107. A very gud and valiant prince. He builded the Abbacies of Scone and of S. Colmes-Inche. He maried Sybilla, daughter to William Duke of Normandie, &c. He died in peace without ſucceſſion, at Striviling, in the 17. zeire of his reigne, and was buried at Dumfermeline.

XCI. David 1. commonly called S. David, King Malcolme 3. his zongeſt ſonne, ſucceded to his brother in the zeir of the warld 5094. In the zeire of Chriſt 1124. Agud, valiant and religious prince, according to theſe times. He builded manie Abbacies, ſik as Haly-rude-houſe, Kelſo, Jed-burgh, Dun-dranan, Cambuſ-kenneth, Kinloſſe, Mel-roſſe, New-bottle, Dumfermeline, Holme in Cumberland, and twa religious places at New-caſtle in Northumberland. He erected foure Biſhoppricks, Roſs, Brechin, Dumblane and Dunkeld. He maried Maude, daughter to Woldeofus Earle of Northumberland and Huntingtoun, and Iuditha, daughters daughter to William the Conquerour King of England, be whom he had one ſonne named Henry, a worthye and gud zouth, who maried Adama, daughter to William, Earle Warren, who bare unto him three ſonnes: Malcome the Mayden, William the Lion, and David Earle of Huntingtoun (concerning whoſe poſteritie looke the Table) and twa daughters, Adama wife to Florentius Earle of Holland, and Margaret wife to Conanus Duke of Brittaine. He died before his father. S.David died in peace at Carleill in the 29. zeire of his reigne, and was buried at Dum-fermline

XCII. Malcolme 4. ſur-named the Mayden (becauſe he would never marie ) ſucceeded to his gud-ſchir David 1. In the zeire of the warlde 5123. In the zeire of Chriſt 1153. A gud and meik prince. He builded the Abbay of Cowper in Angus, and died at Ied-burgh, and was buried at Dumfermeline in the 12. zeire of his reigne.

XCIII William, ſur-named the Lyon, ſucceeded to his brother Malcolme. In the zeire of the warld 5135. and in zeire of Chriſte 1165. A gud and a valiant King. He maried Emergarda, daughter to the Earle of Beau-mount, He builded the Abbacie of Aber-brothok, and ſhe builded the Abbacie of Balmerinoch. He died at Striviling in the 49. zeire of his reigne, and was buried at Aber-brothck.

XCIIII Alexander 2. ſucceeded to his father William, in the zeire of the warlde 5184. In the zeire of Chriſte 1214. A gud prince: He maried Ieane daughter to Iohn King of England, be whom he had no ſucceſſion. After her death he maried Marie daughter to Ingelrame Earle of Coucey in France, be whom he had Alexander the thirde. He died at Kernerie in the Weſt Iles,and was buried at Melroſſe in the 35. zeire of his reigne.

XCV Alexander 3 . ſucceeded to his father, in the zeire of the waild 5219. In the zeire of Chriſt 1249. A gud prince. He maried firſt Margaret daughter to Henry 3. King of England, be whom he had Alexander the prince: quha maried the Earle of Flanders daughter, David and Margaret quha maried Hangonanus, or as ſome call him, Ericas, ſon to Magnus 4. King of Norway, who bare to him a daughter, commonly called the Mayden of Norway, in whom King William his whole poſteritie failed, and the crowne of Scotlande returned to the poſteritie of David Earle of Huntingtoun, King Malcolme 4. and King William his brother, After his ſonnes death (for they died before himſelfe without ſucceſſion) In hope of poſteritie, he maried Ioleta, daughter to the Earle of Dreux in France, be whom he had no ſucceſſion. He builded the croce Kirk of Peibles. He died of a fal off his Horſe upon the ſands betuixt Eaſter and Weſter King-home, in the 37. zeire of his reigne: And was burried at Dunfermeline.

After the death of Alexander 3 quhilk was in the zeire of the warld 5255. In the zeire of Chriſt 1285. There were Sex Regents appointed to rule Scotland, for the South-ſide of Forth, were appointed Robert, the Arche-biſhop of Glaſgowe. Iohn Cummin, and Iohn the great Steward of Scotland. For the North-ſide of Forth, Mak-duff Earle of Fife, Iohn cummin Earl of Buchan, and William Fraſer, Arch-biſhop of Sanct-Andrewes, who ruled the land about the ſpace of ſeven zeires, quhill the controverſie was decided betuixt Iohn Ballioll and Robert Pruyſe, Gud-ſchire to Rober Bruyſe the King of Scotland, cummed of the twa eldeſt daughters of David Earle of Huntingdoun: for Henrie Haſtings, who maried the zongest daughter, put not in his ſute with the reſt, and therefore there is little ſpoken of him.

XCVI Iohn Ballioll ( of whom look the Table ) was preferred to Robert Bruyſe, to be King of Scotland, be Edward 1. ſur-named Lang-ſhankes King of England, who was choſen to be judge of the controverſie, upon a condition, that he ſuld acknowledge him as ſuperiour: quhilk condition like an unworthy man he received. He began his reigne in the zeire of the warld 5263. In the zeire of Chriſt 1293. He was a vaine-glorious man, little reſpecting the weill of his cuntrie. He had not reigned fully foure zeires, when he was expelled be the ſaide Edwarde, and leaving Scotland, departed into the partes of France, where he died long thereafter in exile. And ſo Scotland was without a King and governement, the ſpace of nine zeires: during quhilk ſpace, the ſaide Edwarde 1. Langſhankes, cruelly oppreſſed the lande, deſtroyed the whole auncient monuments of the Kingdome, and ſhed meikle innocent blood.

XCVII Robert Bruyſe (concerning whom look the Table) began to reigne in the zeire of the warld 5276. in the zeire of Chriſt 1306. A valiant, gud and wiſe King. In the beginning of his reigne, he was ſubject to great miſerie and affliction, being oppreſſed be England, bot at length, having over-com and vanquiſhed Edward 2. of Carnavan, at the feeld of Bannock-burne, he delivered ſcotland from the ſlaverie of England, and ſet it at full libertie, all Engliſhmen by force being expelled out of the land.

He maried firſt Iſabell daughter to the Earle of Marre, who bare unto him Marjorie, Walter, the great Steward of Scotlande his wife ( concerning whom, andthe race of the Stewardes, this day ruling in Scotland, looke the Table ) after her death, he maried Iſabel daughter to Haymerius de Burc, Earle of Hultonia or Hulſler in Ireland, wha bare unto him David 2. Margaret the Countes of Sutherland, and Maude that died zong. He died at Cardros, and was buried at Dumfermeling in the twentie-foure zeire of his reigne.

XCVIII David 2, Bruyſe, ſucceeded to his father in the zeire of the warld 5300. In the zeire of Chriſt 1330 A gud prince, ſubject to meikle affliction in his youth, being firſt after the death of Thomas Ranulphh his regent, forced to flee into France, for his owne ſavegard, and then returning hame, was tane at the battell of Durhame, and was halden 12 zeirs almoſt captive in England: but thereafter he was reſtored to his liberty. He maried firſt Ieane, daughter to Edward 2. King of England, and after her death he maried Margaret Logie, daughter to Sir Iohn Logie knight, and died without ſucceſſion at Edinburgh, in the 40. zeire of his raigne, and was buried at Haly-rude-houſe.

XCIX Edward Ballioll, ſonne to Iohn Ballioll, uſurped the Crowne of Scotland, being aſſiſted be Edward 3. King of England, in the zeir of the warld 5302. In the zeire of Chriſt, 1332. But he was expelled at length be David 2. his Regents, and David 2. eſtabliſhed King.

C Robert 2. ſur-named Blear-eie, the firſt of the Stewardes,ſon to Walter Steward, and Mariorie Bruyse K. Robert Bruyſe his daughter, ſucceeded to his mothers brother, in the zeir of the warld 5341. in zeir of Chriſt 1371. A gud and a peaceable prince. He maried firſt Euſeme daughter to Hugh Earle of Roſſe, who bare unto him David Earl of Strathern, Walter Earle of Athol, and Alexander Earl ofBuchan, Lord Badzenoth: After her death
